I’ve been to cloud street a few times because I frequently visit Kodai. The last time I visited was exactly a year ago! Today, I walked out of the restaurant ten minutes ago feeling disappointed. The hot chocolate was diluted , the chocolate wasn’t rich enough. I drank better hot chocolate on the streets of Kodai yesterday for lesser price. The pizzas didn’t seem to be wood fired at all. Something was definitely off with their quality considering I’ve eaten better food right there in the past years. But what pissed me off was the attitude of one of the guys there. Not sure if he’s the owner. There was a lady working the tables taking orders , and she was the one to take our order. But someone else delivered the food to our tables and when he delivered our second pizza, I wanted to follow up with a sandwich coz we felt like we weren’t satiated enough. As I was ordering my food , he cut me right there and said there was no point in ordering to him and he was only merely in charge of delivering food to different tables and even if I ordered with him, I’d have to wait forever to get my food. It was his tone and the way in which he said it that pissed me off. He said he would ask one his guys to take my order but no one there seemed to care. But he seemed to be attending another table of what seemed like 20 high school students with way more enthusiasm. That was my queue to get the hell out of that place! Even if I were the owner of a restaurant running at full capacity I would receive an additional order from a table if someone placed some extra food. Nothing wrong, he wasn’t gonna lose anything, but the attitude he displayed today is the reason he will lose...
Read moreFirst of all a big thanks and heartiest congratulations to Kohila Devi & her small, yet well-neat team for creating an unforgettable homely ambience. The restaurant is definitely a paradise for foodies. We had Tao Chicken, Chicken Pasta, Salami Pizza and Balcon Pizza; and Chocolate Milk. Starting from the last, Pizzas were indeed other-worldly. Thin crusted, hand tossed proper Pizza was definitely the star attraction. As a starter, we had Tao Chicken, followed by Chicken Pasta. Both of them were absolutely brilliant. A big Kudos to the entire team at the kitchen, strongly recommended, will definitely revisit again!!!
P.S. :- An aside, which I cannot help but post it here - there was a group of ~ 15-17 people who had their lunch and also celebrated birthday of one of their mates. It was utterly disturbing to see the lady-in-charge Mrs. Kohila Devi in tears (yes!! That's the utter shame) when they “apparently” (since I didn't interact with them and from whatever bits-&-pieces I could gather from overhearing them) accused that the “Pasta” was not upto the mark and overall food quality was not good. Consequently they left the restaurant paying half of their bill. Now, I am not the judge here. But if it is indeed true (which I am inclined to believe) a heartfelt request to all fellow foodies, if you don't like any dish or overall services anywhere, of course you are welcome to communicate a negative review properly, but please show some decency of paying the full money that you ate already!!
Nevertheless... To the Cloud Street... Cheer up... Maintain your standards and success will be...
Read moreHey, we are the owners of cloud street and actually wanted to respond to one of the reviews on this site and couldn't see another way of doing it. ... So, we have been accused of using readymade pizza bases and wanted to confirm that we make and pre bake our bases freshly, every day. If some are left, sure, we refrigerate them to use the next day. Mostly the bases all get used. The process begins again the next morning. We do not roll the bases on the spot as this has proved Impractical in our small, homely kitchen, and it would end up taking too long to serve our guests, especially, if we get a big order in at the same time, which we often do... We are sorry that Mr Subhransu Mandal did not enjoy the pizza he had but, as we have found after over ten years in the business, you cannot please everyone! Thankfully, most people do enjoy our pizzas, baked in our wood-fired oven, in a open kitchen, Where anyone is free to come and see how the food is prepared. We really care that people enjoy their experience at cloud street and are always sorry when someone is disappointed, because we care. So, sorry again Mr Mandal that you did not enjoy your pizza but please, be assured that we are not cheating anyone! P.s. We rated ourselves 4 stars here instead of 5 as it seems wrong to award ourselves full marks! Oh, and while we are posting, would also like to thank all reviewers for their feedback. We really...
