On the Airport flight path, avoid at all costs. An expensive old delapatated hotel. This was a disaster of a choice. I wished on the first night that I could have cancelled and gone somewhere else. I had specifically asked for a non smoking room in this hotel and wrote a letter explaining that I had emphysema, bronchitis, and asthma and suffered severe attacks of coughing in the presence of smoke or stale smoke. I was presented on arrival with a room that stunk of smoke. Upon getting into bed to sleep after a long sleepless late evening flight, I could smell smoke on the bed clothes and bed. I was immediatly affected by a severe coughing attack which lasted the duration of the night. I had no sleep. After complaint the room was changed but still smelt of smoke though I did not suffer a further bad attack. The electricity in the room cut off each day at least once if not twice. I was asked if I wanted to move again but was reluctant as I did not want to have another attack ( better the devil you know). The noise from low flying planes to and from the airport every 5 to 10 min. was atrocious. Many restless and awakened sleeps. Having not resolved the problem with the ELCB cutting out the electric. I being an engineer proposed the fridge as a possible culprit for the fault ( which turned out to be right) the changed the fridge for one not cleaned and smelling of mould and bacteria. Of course they will have paid more attention in the kitchen? ( not). The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable and old. The rooms do not have double beds but two singles pushed together, which is not a double or queen. I booked with agoda, another mistake. I could not cancel nor amend the booking which is why I will not use agoda again. I have used them for 20 years without incident. However, when you do have an incident you are on your own and out of pocket. I had booked a day too many in this hotel which also was not refunded by the hotel. I would say that the staff in this hotel bar the management are the best part of the hotel. They are courteous, bright, helpful and intelligent for the most part, especially the reception and kitchen staff. Although the staff were nice and I found no problem with the food. I would not book this hotel again. It is more suited to a travelling salesman or a builder looking for ( but not getting) cheap accomodation. The Sea Princess across the road is much better and only marginally more expensive, but worth it. Very few foreigners seen in this hotel. Mostly...
Read moreI want to thank the management and the staff at Regenta Place- The Emerald for their hospitality and the care they provided during my stay at the hotel.|When we checked in my child had very high fever and I was extremely worried as I don’t stay in Mumbai and am not familiar with the doctors. When the management got to know I was promptly called by the gentleman in charge who directed me to a good pediatrician near by. They made sure I got info on the doctor’s timing, his contact etc so that I could reach in time for my appointment.|Being the rainy season it poured incessantly and I couldn’t leave my child alone to get the meds, the hotel made sure they sent their staff to get simple groceries and meds for me. Right from water bottles to fresh juice to food of our choice was given to us. They also made a special menu with less salt and spice. Thank you!||We had the most comfortable stay in the asthetically designed room which had amenities like wifi, a kitchenette - stocked with coffee, tea and hot kettle along with a microwave and fridge.|I want to specially mention Narayan who went out of his way to make sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.|Gulam from room service was very courteous and kept our room spic and span.||The hotel is perfect for families and also for people who come for work. We met some interesting people from different countries while dining at the restaurant -Sapphire. The food was yummy! Indian, Chinese and Italian staples along with some fusion food had us munching through the day! Having an inhouse restaurant and a coffee shop open till wee hours of the morning was great as we didn’t need to step out in the rain.||Located in the “ posh” part of Mumbai! The Emerald is perfect as I could easily reach some local markets as well as some high end boutiques and shops.||We were just five mins walk away from the Juhu beach so it was ideal to just walk across to sit on the beach despite the rain!||We were very sad when the holiday ended! It was hard to say goodbye to the kind and warm staff of the hotel.||Once again a heartfelt thank you to the entire team of The Emerald for going beyond the call of duty to accommodate every need of ours and for making our stay very memorable.|Thank...
Read moreUpon arrival, it became evident that the property is not being maintained to even the most basic expectations of hospitality. The rooms allocated to us were in an unacceptable state: there was extensive dampness throughout, visible patches of mould on the walls, and heavy condensation that created an unpleasant and unhealthy atmosphere. The air quality in the room was poor, and the environment was clearly unfit for habitation. For any guest, and especially for those with health sensitivities, such conditions are entirely inappropriate.
The issues were not limited to the rooms. The lobby and common areas reflected the same lack of care and attention. Dust was visible on the floors, and there was water spillage left unattended, with no warning signage in place. This not only gave a very poor impression of the property but also posed a genuine safety hazard that could easily result in accidents or injuries.
When these concerns were raised, the standard of customer service was deeply unsatisfactory. The hotel manager, Mr. Sandeep, chose not to acknowledge or address the severity of the problems. Rather than accepting responsibility or offering any meaningful resolution, he avoided the matter entirely. To add further frustration, he attempted to impose a one-night cancellation fee despite the fact that the accommodation provided was clearly unsuitable. Such behaviour demonstrates not only poor management but also a disregard for guest wellbeing.
In contrast, Booking.com — through whom we made our reservation — reviewed the situation with professionalism and agreed to provide a full refund. Their response underscores just how serious and unacceptable the condition of the property was.
A hotel in this state should not be marketed or made available to paying guests. Basic hygiene, safety, and service standards must be a priority in the hospitality industry, and unfortunately, Regenta Place The Emerald falls far short in all of these areas. Until significant investment and improvements are made in both the physical condition of the property and the attitude of its management, I would strongly advise...
