AVOID IT!!!!!!!!!!||we arrived there reccomended from another hotel from jodhpur for visit the town and, of course, a safari.... as soon as we arrived during the check in the guy start to push us to buy a safari with him (we already know there was going to happend..) for the following day for a 2 days 1 night safari on NON TOURISTIC TOUR with the excuse that an english couple was already going so that we could enjoy them and have a discount on the price (that was not a problem anyway...)... he told us that they own the camels (that was true...) and that will be a good tour because we will be out of the touristic track and he told us a list of the places we should visit and he guarantee us that will be good food and everything will be cook with mineral water and that we will return for 4pm... ||As soon as we wake up we realized that there was no english couple but just a swiss girl (FIRST LIE)||When we arrived to pick up the camels and the guides we realized that there was no program. was up to us where to go... like we should know where to go.... finally in 2 days we just visit a village and an empty lake (SECOND LIE)||The food was no cook with mineral water but with water pumped from bores... the second day the pumped brown muddy water and we had to ask them for please dont use it for make the chai tea (THIRD LIE)||The safari finished at 1pm (FOURTH LIE)||And then on the way back with the jeep come out that the girl with us was a "friend" of the owner of the camels, so we guess that instead had a discount we paid for her tour too (she never complaind about something) and that they gave away our room (that was already not special, with the same money you can find much better room) and instead they gave us a smelly small room without even a window (but the other girl could keep the same room) and they offer it us for free after our complain about the tour..... but we just take our baggages and...
Read moreI was promised a room for 150 with internet 24hrs and no safari pressure promise. I agreed to stay, got a room, it was nice enough for such a good price but the internet did not work. When i did want to inquire about the safari it was so hard to get any clarification as to why it was so expensive it was like having a conversation with a brick wall! I was quoted one for 2500 and another for 3000. I also asked about the bus ticket to Jodhpur and told 350. I went out for the day and on my return I said i did not want a safari and then by magic was told i had to move rooms as someone else had reserved my one for tomorrow! so that meant i had to move out of it now! ha ha, after arguing this was wrong and ridiculous I decided to simply leave, and when i asked for a lift to the fort with my bags i was told it would cost 150 rupees........i was feeling pretty damn angry by that point, i burst into tears with frustration shouted at them in the street at how terribly they treat their tourists and stormed off to get my bag and leave. The managers brother saw this and kindly offered to take me to the fort for free. (its not far but uphill with my bag would be)||||I later went to Desert Boys guest house within the fort which was lovely! got a great camel safari for 1400 and a beautiful room for 300 and was very happy. I also later got the bus ticket for 225!!! ||||Jaisalmer is cut throat, but this hotel will make you want to slit...
Read moreI really enjoyed my stay at Laxmi Niwas. The hotel has rooms on the fort’s wall, with a great view over Jaisalmer. My room was small, but clean and with a silent fan. A couple of things to be careful about though: my room was advertised as double room, however I struggled to find the space to drop my one backpack (55l) travelling solo. The bed was almost square, in fact it would leave calves and feet out. I doubt couples travelling would fit into such a small room, there literally is no space for two backpacks or two people on the bed. One more thing to notice is that en-suite bathrooms have squat toilet. So no western toilets. Finally, and this is the reason I am giving four stars rather than five, a couple of things I didn’t like: although my booking.com reservation clearly stated that all services and goods taxes where included in the final price, the gentleman running the hotel insisted I paid it extra. When I then paid the extra tax, he had no change to give back and promised he was going to sort his debt out later. I never had my change. Not at all a big deal, but I do value transparency and these little things detracted from the experience. The gentleman owning the hotel seemed to be scared I was not going to pay, as he kept asking me daily, even more than once a day, when I was...
