Hotel Dongkhela & Bengali Restaurant — Hotel in Sikkim

I had booked Hotel Donkheala, M.G. Road through Goibibo -in the month of Feb-2014. Cars can park outside the hotel so that you can drag your luggage to the Hotel. Don’t expect their staff to help you.The charge for the room was Rs. 2000/- per night. The Only thing that is positive is that this Hotel is on the MG Road end. MG road is "L" shaped (MG Road and Old MG Road. The receptionist was not at all forthcoming. The rooms did not have proper heater and we had to remain without taking bath for two days eventhough Mr.Sunny-(room boy) allowed us to change the rooms. The boys did not even heed to my request as I had already paid my money in advance through internet (online) and booked the rooms through Goibibo–The bedsheets were not clean and they did not change the towels often. The bedsheets have holes in them and not washed for ages. . Not much plugs were there so we had difficulty in charging our mobiles and camera batteries You can see that switches in the room are very very old & broken and one might even get shock. The staff was not co-operating except Mr.sunny. The restaurant is costly (Rs. 60/- for a cup of coffee). Only Room no. 103 and 201 have road side view. The carpets are shabby and are there since the inception of the hotel. The rooms of Hotel Donkheala(Phone-03592-290024) are overpriced. I will never suggest to anyone to book this hotel. Except MG Road there is nothing in Gangtok - shopping- items are priced more as people come from everywhere. The heater in the the new room allotted to us was also not working and I was at my wits end and I had to contact the Owner ( Mr. Aggarwal -09832-660400 and V.L. Aggarwal-098320-94106) of the hotel every hour to complain about the non-availability of hot water and also the poor reception. Taxi people also charge heavily (above Rs.2500/-) per day and there are only hills and nothing else. Please don’t waste your...

I went to Hotel Dongkheala , we are 3 people wife,husband and my 9yrs old daughter have a very bad experience here and they insulted me, I ordered my meal roti and paneer veg items but they took order and after seeing that more customers are coming in his hotel they told that one of the pre ordered item they will not make and serve , I said ok...after that they gave only 3 roti out of 6 roti order ,when we completed our half meal with only 3 roti , I asked for more roti to complete my family meal they told that we have to wait long for another 3 roti....what the hell ...is it any Langer or we are beggers that they serve as they like...after that they demanded the bill amount also , the worst thing is that they served no. of roti to new customers but they make us wait for 30 minutes but still not given us more 3 roti to complete our meal, this undigestable service and behaviour of the restaurant shows this hotel is greedy hotel and very business minded,This hotel thinks that customers are not permanent here and all are tourists they will come once only so it will not make difference ,so they treat customer as beggers.

My suggestion, never go to this restaurant where you get this humiliation based hotel .it might not happen with everyone but it can be happen with someone.

It's sad part We completed our half meal in another hotel. How disgusting is this one...

I have been advised regarding this hotel from on of my office colleague. However after reading the earlier reviews I was not sure what to expect,but I was pleasantly surprised that the hotel has been changed from the core.||||The booking process was absolutely smooth. Thian, the proprietor was very helpful in this process. ||||The hotel is situated at the end of the famous M G Marg of Gangtok. The advantage of this location is that on one hand you can avail taxi services from just outside the hotel and on the other hand the most famous part of Gangtok ( M G Marg) is just outside.||||We stayed in top floor and this room comes with a balcony just in front with the view of the stretch and on the other side of the adjoined roof you can view the entire mountain range.||||Room was clean and equipped with all amenities. We had a separate water heater ( geyser) in the bathroom. The room service was excellent without any kind of delay and was helpful enough.||||Donkheala has its own restaurant at the ground floor and multi cuisine food (veg and non veg) is available there. We did tried both Indian and Chinese food and was not disappointed.||||To sum it up, with its Location, Service, Cleanliness, Value and Restaurant, Donkheala can live up to your expectation and easily...
