TRIBAL by OHAN NAGA — Restaurant in Sikkim

We went there to try out their "special dish", smoked pork in bamboo shoot, and I got a stomach infection the next day, which almost got me bed ridden. The 3 stars that I have given here is dedicated to the staff, who were quite cooperative, I must say. However, I would not like to comment on the food, because I really don't understand how people can tolerate that weird smell of burned bamboo in their food. Maybe it's "exotic" to many, but to me, it was something that I will never want to spend my precious money on. My suggestion - If you are new to this, better not experiment. We had terrible experience dining in the restaurant. Friends wanted to try Naga cuisine and we went there for dinner. After we ordered, after 30 mins they informed that one of the dish we ordered is not available. After another 30 mins, the waitress informed us that the other dish is also not available. During this whole thing, the manager was unapologetic about it, ruining our dinner experience. It felt also unfair that other folks, who looked to be regular got the restaurant got their orders within few minutes of ordering, while we were told after 1 hour that our dish was not available. Firstly, the restaurant is quite a small place yet the ambience is relaxing. Let me mention that there are some changes in the menu card at present.

If you are curious about different cuisines, you must try the Naga foods. I ordered Burnt Chili Garlic Fried Rice and Roasted Pork with Bamboo shoot(half). Regarding the taste of the foods, in one word "Fulfilling". Naga foods are spicy, so the dishes were. For one person the quantity was sufficient. The only drawback to me was, the price.
