Muscatel Roma - 400 Mts from Mall Road — Hotel in West Bengal

Not recommended at all. Hotel situated way too high on a steep dirty filthy pathway. Staffs are unable to handle situation during peak season or full house booking. They do not do proper room cleaning. No sceneric view from room window except for garbage dumps since the hotel is surrounded by other hotels around. Do not get taken away by the room pics in their website. Pics are of their other hotel rooms. Do not pay full advance payment. Paid almost 5k per night for a family room, stayed for 3 nights with least amenities. Staffs are friendly & always smiling but of no help. If you insist or complain on anything, they grumble & mock you. On a chilly cold December winter & peak christmas season. 1st day on check-in - no room heater or mattress heater, no table to keep luggages (had to keep everything on floor), plug points broken. Window pane in bathroom broken. 2nd day - only 1 person for room service & restaurant. No kitchen or pantry - there are 4 hotels in close proximity hence 1 central kitchen & all food is managed from their Himalayan resort only. Wait time for food is 30 mins to an hour. Worst...

I had to call the reception but there was no one there so I called the reception police. The Darjeeling police made me more uncomfortable by harassing me a lot. Thy kept calling me 3 to 4 times and then appears at my room door without a female constable. If you see the pictures and website shared by the hotel management, one would think that this was a semi luxurious hotel with great views. But the reality is far from the rosy picture painted in the website and the pictures shared here. Seeing the pictures on the website, I had booked deluxe room with valley view. But the view from the room was hardly a valley view. There was a roof of a building next door blocking 80% of the view. Also the size of the room was quite small as compared to the ones shared on the website. The rooms and the quality of the rooms were sub par for the price we paid too. The shower was partly broken, there was a bad smell once in a while coming from the drainage of the bathroom. On top of this, we could hear each and every word spoken throughout the floor and the floor above. Overall a very disappointing stay and not at all worth the money we paid...
