We recently booked a room in Lotus Apartments based on the wonderful review of a relative who stayed here 4 years ago, but were disappointed and upset after checking in. Room was quite small, with mismatched furniture and a rundown look. Bed was comfortable but queen size and there was no fridge or any kitchenette except a table in the corner with a tray having a few tea bags and 2 cups. Bathroom was clean and well built, but the toilet bowl and the sink were old and looked seedy. We were 2 adults and 2 kids, aged 14 and 8 and when we booked the room, we called them for clarification. They said that the child under 10 would not be charged and given a complimentary bed, but on arriving there we were told a different story. They said the room is only for 2 adults and 2 kids, but since the older child was above 10, they would charge us 750 extra. After a small argument, we paid up and went up to the room, but there was no extra bed. When we called reception, they said that there were no more cots available, but could give us a mattress to put on the floor and sleep. It was a comfortable mattress though and the gentleman who came up to give it to us was helpful and affable. We noticed that the other staff too were quite polite and courteous, including the security uncle at the gate. The front office lady named Kalai was very congenial too and we enjoyed a good chat with her later. Breakfast was good, with extra guests (of ours) from outside allowed for just 200+ per person. All in all, hotel needs a face lift and furniture in the rooms need to be matched to give the place a more pleasing and welcoming look. And they have to be careful when they respond to guest questions over the phone and explain properly. Otherwise everything...
Read moreWish I had the option of giving them a zero! We called them a day prior and asked them if we could check in at around 4 to 5 am. They said yes and because of that we booked the place. But, after we reached there at 4 am, the guy at the reception was like you can only book after 12 and right now there aren't any rooms available! We said that when we enquired this wasn't the deal. So we were without a room and at that time no other nearby hotels had free rooms. They were like they don't know anything and avoided taking any responsibility. Next they told us to wait till seven am and see if anything works out or if they could get a room cleared. So we waited while tired and then they said wait till 12 pm. It was so infuriating! We were just 2 women all alone in chennai without a place to live! They wasted our time and also our energy! Absolutely pathetic management. Would suggest not to come here if you want to check in a little early because they take absolutely no responsibility for...
Read moreThe location is great with the T Nagar Bus Station, and by extension, excellent eateries and shopping arcades, at less than a kilometre from it. Same with the Nandanam Metro Station as well as Pondy Bazar too at walking distance from the hotel. || It is quite difficult to check in to the hotel and still more difficult to check out! It looks more of a system failure than anything being wrong with the staff at the reception but one can never be sure. Rooms are OK but the bath room floor has a tendency to have puddles since there something wrong with the slope of the floor. ||This is a funny hotel which does not have a kitchen and serves the breakfast buffet by bringing it from elsewhere. They do take orders for room service but tell us we need to wait for about an hour to meet the order since they are bringing it from another property of their own located far away! ||Altogether, it is suggested that it is an avoidable pain in spite of having a...
