On May 28th, 2024, I visited Thalappakatti Restaurant on G.N. Chetty Road with my family. While we were dining, a staff member asked about our food and service experience and requested a Google review. I rated the food 4 stars, the service 5 stars, the atmosphere 4 stars, and gave an overall rating of 4 stars, mentioning that the food was excellent and the service was good.

However, the staff member immediately changed my 4-star rating to 5 stars in front of me. Seeing this, I changed it back to 4 stars. Then, she took my phone under the pretense of taking a picture of the review. After retrieving my phone, I noticed she had changed my ratings to 5 stars again, which drove me crazy. When I confronted her, she initially denied altering the review and claimed I had given 5 stars. After some argument, I threatened to write about my negative experience on Google. Only then did she admit her mistake and apologize.

It was clear to me that the staff's actions were driven by the manager. The manager did not address the issue or apologize for what happened. Instead, he suggested his staff not to reply for customer's complaints in insulting tone.

Having just returned from the US after 9 years, this was my first restaurant visit, and I had high expectations. The manager's ECHA behavior ruined my entire day and made this the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I now understand how they may have accumulated so many 5-star reviews.

Despite the excellent food and service from other staff (one of the other staff also apologized for what happened), the manager's attitude and behavior compel me to give a rating lower than 1 star, but unfortunately, that's not an option. I paid 3000+ for the food which I think waste of money due to this one person.

Please BEWARE of such...

I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious—every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully plated, and bursting with flavor. You can immediately tell that the ingredients are fresh and carefully sourced, and the chefs truly put effort into balancing textures and spices perfectly. From appetizers to desserts, each plate felt like a work of art and was cooked to perfection.

That said, I have to point out that this restaurant is definitely on the pricier side. The portions are fair, but you’re paying for quality, presentation, and an overall elevated dining experience. While it may not be a spot for a casual, budget-friendly meal, it’s worth every penny if you’re looking to treat yourself or celebrate something special.

The service was equally impressive—the staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring everything arrived at the right pace. The ambiance added to the experience as well, with a warm, elegant setting that made the evening feel relaxed and refined.

Overall, while it is a bit expensive, the combination of impeccable food, exceptional service, and a cozy yet upscale atmosphere makes it a restaurant I’d happily return to. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable and indulgent...

October 5th I visited the restaurant with my family (total 5 adult,1toddler). Reached the restaurant @1.50pm was very hungry. Ordered : 2/4 hot and sour veg soup, chicken 65 biriyani, chicken fried rice, half pepper barbeque, fish fingers, paneer biryani, paneer tikka, gobi manchurian, veg kothu porotta.

After 40min the person bringed chicken fried rice ,from that after 20min pepper barbeque, after 30min gobi manchurian and paneer tikka. We received chicken 65 biriyani, chicken fried rice, half pepper barbeque, paneer biryani, paneer tikka, gobi manchurian, veg kothu porotta.

We lost all our patients waited for almost 2hrs for food and we received after 40min ,we were hungry too. What a waste of time and money. We asked to cancel other items which didn't bring to table :soup and fish fingers. The person who took an order mentioned that they can't cancel an order which Is already updated in a system ,there i got pissed off. Why the hell I want to pay for the food which they didn't even to bring.

Spoke with the billing person ,she tried to compromise and asked to pay for what we had and i asked for updated bill but she refused and mentioned that their management will punish her for this .

People try to choose the restaurant wisely don't check only the branded once as we did. Entered @2pm - went out @4.20pm with empty stomach and high...

We ordered mutton boneless biryani because of they didn't have the option with the bone. As usual , They provide you with 4 boneless pieces a small bowl of raita, a boiled egg and a bowl of gravy. The biryani was perfectly cooked and the quality of the rice was really good and their mutton pieces were juicy and the spices were perfectly blended. I'd recommend you to have one bite wherein you have some egg, a piece of mutton, a bit of raita with onions with the rice. Dindigul Thalappakatti food/biryani is always good, but the customer service is little bit notable here. Initially we asked the Vanjaram fry and they said yes it is available we will take the order but after sometime they are saying it is over. We changed the plan and ordered Chicken lollypop but again they are saying the dish is not available as of now. Most of the dishes mentioned in the menu is not available here. Finally we ordered Chilli fish fry , but the making and serving time is too slow , its almost 25 min to serve the dish to us. Pros : Flavor of the mutton biryani. Ambience Cons: Less Quantity Service is too slow Most of the dishes are not available Note: I Really suggest that they should increase the quantity of mutton pieces, I'm pretty sure it will really make it awesome and value for money.

So authentic.. Really love this restaurant.. This place is present straight to Nandhanam Metro station.. mostly suitable for family .. ambience is so good. Neat and clean.. I want to say thanks to the employee (don't know what his designation ) after I enter this restaurant we need to wait for a few minutes for seating.. after that they arrange a seat for you( depends on family members) after seating qr scode is available for order placing orelse waiter also available.. Chinese dishes take few minutes..i ordered 1 Schezwan fried rice for my sister 1 mutton biriyani for my brother and chicken korthu parota for myself as well as Gopi manchurien as starters. Every thing is fine but fried rice is under cooked.. immediately we inform to our waiter. He checked and apologies and within few minutes he replace with another dish.. we all completed our lunch.. when bill arrive he again ask apologie that makes ourself so cool.. seriously that's not his mistake.. they frozen the rice that's the reason behind this issue.. Don't try fried rice here it's my personal opinion.. however this restaurant famous for briyani.. yeah that's obviously true... Enjoy your time with your family.. enjoy food that's fullfill you and stomach 😃✌️ Enjoy..

I recently dined at Thalapakatti Biryani in Chennai and had the opportunity to savor a variety of dishes, including chicken biryani, chicken 65 biryani, mutton biryani, porotta, chicken varuval masala, mutton milagu soup, and chicken kothu porotta. While the biryanis were certainly tasty, they didn't stand out as exceptionally unique. They are worth trying at least once, but don't expect any extraordinary flavors. Moving on to the chicken kothu porotta, it left me with a rather average impression. The chicken flavor was disappointingly subtle, and the porotta itself was on the harder side, lacking the desirable flakiness and layers you'd expect. It almost resembled a chappathi in texture. The staff recommended the chicken varuval masala, which turned out to be a standard coconut-infused Kerala chicken curry. It was enjoyable but didn't offer any surprising twists or memorable tastes. Overall, Thalapakatti Biryani offers decent food options, but if you're seeking something truly exceptional, you might want to explore other culinary delights in Chennai.
