Mathsya Tnagar — Restaurant in Zone 9 Teynampet

I visited the T. Nagar branch of Mathsya today with a friend, and it turned out to be an embarrassing and unpleasant experience. We had booked through Zomato by paying a ₹50 cover charge, expecting a smooth dining experience. However, only upon reaching the restaurant did they inform us that the offer was valid only for buffet customers. Nowhere was this clearly mentioned during booking. We just wanted to try a soup and a few starters, not the buffet.

The food itself was a huge letdown. The soup was just about decent, but the starters were an absolute disaster. We ordered Mushroom Manchurian and Golden Fried Baby Corn, and honestly, they were among the worst I’ve ever had — dripping with oil, poorly made, and completely lacking in taste.

To make things worse, when the bill arrived, they initially refused to adjust the ₹50 cover charge, forcing us to argue with the manager before they finally deducted it. This whole situation was unnecessary and left us extremely disappointed.

Overall, this branch of Mathsya was a total letdown — bad food, poor communication, and unprofessional handling of customers. Definitely would not recommend this place to family or friends, and I will never return here again.

Okay, I’ll deal with Zomato directly regarding the offer. But what about the food? That was entirely your responsibility, and it was honestly a huge disappointment. On 08.07.2025 we booked Buffet Lunch for 10 persons and had lunch. But service was very poor. All most all the chef n Dish were very small quantity especially Paneer Parota only 4 to 5 pieces, Rice only 5 Ladel, Appalam container was empty, after approached they filled some vathal, where as they served Appalam in the Normal Table Service Lunch. We were waiting for Appalam nearly 5 minutes with plates. It was looked like beggers. We had chilled Soup. No dedication in your service. We paid so much amount and had Inferior food. I was an Assistant Manager in Central Government Canteen for 30 years. We catered nearly 1200 employees, that too 24 hours service. I know the difficulty to run Hotels and Canteens.

More over a Dinning Hall Supervisor shouted with your menial staff for collecting money from me. He didn't wait for my Bank transaction to settle my bill amount. All the Consumers were looking after me, it's painful to me. Earlier occasions I had very respectful treatment in your Mathsaya, based on that we came to your hotel for Lunch. Been coming here several times. Lunch buffet was always delicious. This time tried their dinner buffet for my bday. Starters- A fruit squash, veg manchow soup, Corn fries, samosas, Gobi fried and kabab, along with nice sweet chutney and mint chutney. Main course - A humble noodles with veg sauce, Good North Indian spread, pasta. Live chat counter a very good podi dosa.
