Dhaba by claridges, is located right inside the ishpani center, been located in the heart of the city this place started to grab everyone attention with their contemporary ambiance and mouth watering food.
According to the Mr.FoOdiee’s theory ” Each and every penny which we spend on food will be having a equal and opposite pleasant reaction”, Dhaba is surely a cosy place it will surely give you the luxurious feel. With the price tag of 1500 bucks for two it will surely burn your wallet, still the taste this guys deliver will surely worth it.
Let share my experience about this place.
Coming to the ambience:
There is no wonder why this place have attracted the crowd, Their ambiance will surely give make you feel amazed, you will feel that you have stepped into a punjabi state, whole theme is setted up according to the punjabi dhaba with trucks n tyres, if you lucky you can even get a chance to dine on the truck too, coming to their entertaining sence they will never keep you bored, they do flash mob all of the sudden, they will surely surprise you from their ambiance and service
I was totally amazed with their ambiance n service how about the food ?
I landed up here to taste their new chef special menu, i was quite excited to taste their new food, The new menu basically contains all the food which you can get in all the dhaba’s around the country, They have choosen the best among those and added those item in their menu.
Our feast started with Aam lassi
Aam lassi:
Lassi is always my favourite drink from my childhood, its way more healthier than the mocktails and mojitos, coming the Aam lassi it was perfect taste, lassi was so thick and rich, they have perfectly duclified with sugar.
Thandai lassi:
It was bit disappointing its was so diluted and the consistency of almond and fennel seeds was pretty low. Would hv been better if they have made it exactly like the Aam lassi.
Tawa Paneer:
One of the best paneer i ever had till now, trust me guys their paneer will put a smile on your face anyday, it was so soft n fluffy, it just melts in your mouth like icecream.
They have marinated it very well, its was mild and gave me a pleasent feel,
” its surely a scrumptious paneer ”
Lawrence Road ki tikki:
Been a diehard fan of allu tikki, i was little curious how a mutton tikki tastes like, they have perfectly minced mutton you wont feel like ur having a mutton tikki. It was good but i felt it was blunt, with red and mint chutney it went so well.
Bhawan omelet:
It was an normal omelet they served it with chilly chicken and garlic nan, its was kind of disappointing, omelet with chicken dint go well and they even provide you naan with it, again naan with chilly chicken is not a best combination which you dont want to try out. I felt butter chicken would have made it far better than chilly chicken.
Roti with Burmi mutton and nutri saag Paneer:
The presentation of the food was too good, they brought the Burmi mutton in the pickle jar, it was so appealing and rotis they served it with cloth closing it to make sure roti doesnt get dry.
Coming to the taste, nutri saag paneer was excellent this guys just nailed it, it a palak panner actually, just made my day. Burmi mutton was good its was mild and flavourful still i felt nutri panner was too good, It gave me a mouth watering experience
Desserts:
Dhabe da meetha and Mewa rabri:
Dhade da meetha ! I first thought it would be double ka meetha, but to my surprise it was different it an overloaded version of shahi tukda, they served it with fried bread with malai and gulab jamun, where in shahi tukda they serve it with rabri. Malai + bread + gulab jamun is surely a pack of joy i dont want you guys to miss it.
Mewa rabri:
It was so rich and colorful I personally liked both the desserts Overall i would rate them 4/5
Ambiance :4/5
Service :4/5
Taste : 4/5

Read moreThis restaurant is located in the Ispahani Centre. My sis & I reached the venue by around 12:15pm & was surprised to find that there was “No Parking” for our 2-Wheeler. Thank God! I did not go on my 4-Wheeler. After some searching all by myself, I found a parking space opposite to ICAI. Relief 😊
Weather was pleasant outside. Hence no complaints about that. As soon as I entered the restaurant which was on the ground floor - just on the left, we were welcomed the the restaurant staffs.
We took the corner seat (since by then we never knew that they had 2 floors - 1st & 2nd). We were amazed by the interior which were done & resembled the typical Dhaba. Yes. That’s Dhaba in the city. The lightings were Colorful & Attractive. Some chandeliers were made of glass bottles. Then comes the painting which were as Colorful as the lights. Then there were frames - frames of some anecdotes, wordings & Bollywood movies.
As we went up, we were surprised to see that the restaurant had received quite a number of Awards(commendable).
The vessels were of copper and they used earthworm vessels for serving water, Shorba among others which is a welcoming move.
Staffs were attentive & explained it in Hindi/English about the dishes. We also had a good chat with the Restaurant Manager Mr Raja Kumar & Chef Kamal (who is from Uttarakhand). He did an amazing job through his culinary skills which is covered in the next section/post 😊
P.S. Be there early coz the restaurant gets crowded real fast and today being a Friday, there was a decent crowd.
About the Food:
What did I order?
Masala Papad Murgh Zaffarni Shorba Sarson Fish Tikka Sweet Lassi Butter Milk Butter Naan Pind Di Chaamp aur Boti Makki Ki Roti Sarson aur Sabz kb(mustard leaves gravy) Dhabe Da Meetha Badam Halwa
Firstly, we were served with Masala Papad. They were nicely fried and the masala was hot. Remember, it is winter special.
This was followed by Shorba. We loved it as it tasted real good. There were 4-5 chicken pieces in the bottom. Yes. They were cooked well. This Shorba, I can say, is Unique!
Sarson Fish Tikka followed next. We noticed there were lot of mustard seeds on the top. Initially, I thought of discarding them but then decided otherwise. It was deep fried and tasted real good with the fish.
Butter Milk & Sweet Lassi followed next. They were thick in texture and tasted amazing.
Then it was time for Main Dishes.
We ordered Butter Naan & Mutton gravy (Pind Di Chaamp aur Boti). I was floored by its taste. It was so good that we finished all the pieces and did not want to let go the gravy (since Naan was over).
This was followed by Makki Ki Roti which was served with Sarson aur Subz. It gave a different dimension to our taste buds. It was accompanied by jaggery pieces & white butter. Do not miss this.
Finally, for desserts, we ordered Badam Halwa which was full of ghee. Dhabe Da Meetha is their specialty dessert. So, if you visit them, do not forget to order this.
What I also noticed is they served Hot Water. It serves two purpose - enhancing digestion & making you immune...

Honk * Honk* It's the "Dhaba by Claridges" truck making its stop at Chennai after a long ride in the North.
Now the people of South can also enjoy this bliss of local North Indian cuisine.
This place is currently the happy and happening place in Chennai.I'm sure Isphani mall will experience some crowd cos of this restaurant.
To begin with, As soon as you enter, You will start feeling some positive vibes about this place and I realised how Colours play a role in it. Panjabi themed and Bollywood styled restaurant with happy and funny quotes all around, It's colourful lights and decors, Bollywood posters, and oh! They have an actual Truck on their 2nd floor. It's mandatory to snap some pictures in the truck.. JK :P ). So yea! The Ambiance was just Perfect. Beautifully done.
Also the staffs were jovial and hey! They even danced for us.No matter what mood swings you are going through, This place will make you HAPPY !
Some of we foodies were invited here to experience the place and their food.
Coming to the food,
We started off with the Beverages,
BEVERAGES : Kaala katta | Ganne Ka Sa Ras |Junglee cooler | Aam sutra lassi | Virgin Paan Mojito | Shikanji | Chennai Express (moore) | Rangeela | Mango flavoured Coconut water
All these drinks had some Traditional hint to it with some twist.
kala Khatta, a jamun based drink topped my list.It had good flavours and a hint of jal jeera. Reminds you of the ice gola which you might have had standing outside your school. Nostalgia ^_^ Aam sutra lassi was mango flavoured lassi, Blended well.
STARTERS :
Tawa Mutton | Amritsari Fish | Tandoori Dhaba Raan | Highway Chicken Tikka
I liked the Highway Chicken tikka and Dhaba Raan.Well marinated and Spiced.Amritsari Fish was more on the crispy batter side which went on well with the dips provided for the starters which included Hari, Teekhi and Imli based dips. The dips made a good combo for the starters.
MAIN COURSE :
Assorted breads with NON VEG GRAVIES : Balti Meat | Amritsari Tawa kukkad | Butter Chicken | Chitta butter Chicken.
Balti meat was a traditional north indian curry which is not famous all around the world.Very much flavourful and the mutton used was well cooked and tender.I personally loved the Chitta Butter Chicken that went on perfectly well with the breads.More of sweeter and cheesy option.Dont miss this out. Also Amritsari tawa kukkad tasted well.
DESSERTS : Tilla Kulfi | Matka kulfi | Rabri | Phirni | Rabri
All traditional Desserts ! Feel it? Tastes exaclty like how you'd think it would. And Yes! It wont let your taste buds down.
Such a lively place that shouldn't be missed.Talk about its Ambiance or Service or Food! Everything is Positively vibing.
