Please don't ignore the bad reviews - we did, and came to regret it! We booked 4 nights and left after 1.
Our contact with Graham was great before we arrived, however once we were shown to the room we were extremely disappointed. The floors and windows were dirty, the patio doors didn't close properly so mosquitoes could get into the room, plug sockets weren't working, the pool was green and cloudy etc., however the biggest disappointment was when we heard the construction noise. When booking the room I had read reviews that mentioned construction noise, so I emailed Graham checking that this would be finished by the time we arrived - he said it may overrun but that harbour master suites were far away from the construction site so I reserved a high level room. This was a blatant LIE, as the construction was less than 50m away, just up the hill from the room (7am - 9pm). We said we were not prepared to pay the original amount for this room so asked for a lower rate or we would check out, as we would not have booked the room if we'd known about the construction.
We were declined a discount but offered the solution of a different room but it was directly under our original room so we could still very clearly hear the construction - we declined the offer and checked out. The manager was very apologetic even though it wasn't his fault, but we heard very very little from Graham. We moved to Bintang Flores which I highly recommend over this hotel - cleaner, quieter, cheaper and much better value! I emailed Graham wanting an explanation for the lie, and giving him a chance to resolve the situation before I left a review, however he barely apologised and accused me of blackmailing him!
This was meant to be the nicest stay of our trip for our anniversary, but we had stayed in much nicer places for a fraction of the price! The rooms, management and customer support all need improvement for this place to be worth the price. Please trust the bad reviews and don't give this hotel business until it has sorted out its issues and listened to disappointed customers - I know...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience at the hotel in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. We booked this hotel because of its nice facilities, including a beautiful swimming pool and pretty rooms. Our first impression of the hotel was good.
Upon entering the first room, we immediately noticed a strong chlorine smell, which could indicate that the room just had been properly cleaned. However, after waking up with a strong cough, sneezing nose, and wet eyes, it became apparent that the issue was much more serious.
We felt awful, and it was impossible to stay inside the room any longer. We immediately requested a room change and were given a new room. However, our symptoms did not improve, and we later found out that there was a chlorine leak from the room next door.
We were shocked that the hotel did not take our health concerns seriously. The owner of the hotel, who is from New Zealand, did explain the issue but did not offer a solution. We even requested a refund for the first night, but the hotel only offered a 50% refund, which we found unacceptable. We were not complaining guests, but we felt that our health was being disregarded.
The hotel's lack of concern for guest safety was disturbing, and we worried about what could have happened if someone with asthma or serious respiratory problems had stayed in that room. We were fortunate to be healthy and strong, but we still experienced discomfort and headaches for next three days.
Overall, our experience at this top hotel in Labuan Bajo was terrible. We advise future guests to be careful and consider other options before booking a stay at this hotel. The hotel's lack of responsibility and concern for our health was unacceptable, and we hope that they will take the necessary steps to ensure that this does not happen to...
Read moreI booked the Harbourmaster Suite through the hotel website. The administration informed me early on that the room is located on a hill, requiring guests to walk up a steep incline. A 20% deposit and a 3% credit card charge were necessary.
I stayed in Room Number 12. The balcony offered a stunning view of the bay, although photos taken from there included the roof of the room below, which was a slight drawback.
Slope of the walkway to the room For us, it was quite steep but we could walk up it without being too tired. It was worth the view we got.
I would rate the room 3 stars for the following reasons:
The room's condition was not very new, and the floor had some dust.
2.The bathroom featured an open-air shower, raising concerns about privacy from other rooms.
The air conditioner is not very efficient during the day. You must use a ceiling fan to increase cooling. However, it worked fine at night.
Despite these issues, the hotel has some notable highlights: The bay view is exceptionally beautiful. Breakfast options were plentiful and could be served on the bedroom balcony at a time of the guest’s choosing. The staff so kind and helpful.
The hotel is close to the famous restaurant Taman Laut, you can walk to eat. And on the left there is a viewpoint. But you will have the same view as your room. Viewing the sunset and listening to the prayers at the same time, I found Labuan Bajo very charming
Walking into the center is actuallynot far at all. But the hotel is on the hill, so you have to walk down the hill and up when you back which is...
