I booked a deluxe sea view double bed room on a travel website. When I showed up at the hotel, they claimed I was booked for a worse room without a view (garden view). Not only that, they put me in a twin room with small twin beds and they said I would have to change rooms on my third night and final night of my stay, which as anyone knows, is a big inconvenience. I second guessed myself and didn’t have my reservation handy, so I didn’t resist.

Upon going to my room, it was in a shoddy state. There were bugs all over, and the toilet paper dispenser had fallen off the wall. Be warned: They only provide one tiny roll of toilet paper at this hotel. I then hopped on my computer and found my original reservation which was in fact for a deluxe sea view double. I complained to the front desk and they told me there were no rooms available, and I was stuck in my current twin room, even though I booked and paid for a deluxe double sea view room. I then demanded they refund me the much higher amount I paid for a deluxe sea view room or switch me the room I booked. I got the travel website's customer service involved, and eventually management stepped in and put me in the correct room 30 minutes later.

The new room was also full of bugs, and I spent the first hour killing countless mosquitoes, flies, spiders, cockroaches, and caterpillars. I understand it’s the wild tropics, but the staff clearly put no effort into pest control. There were huge gaps between the front and rear doors and the floors underneath them, allowing any bugs to waltz in. There was one spider web that looked so vast and intricate that it must have taken weeks for the spider to create before I smashed it. Every time I left the room for a few hours I would return to see loads of bugs, mostly centipedes/millipedes and mosquitoes. Same goes for every morning I woke up. I spoke with other visitors on my boat tour the next day, and they all said that there were few or no bugs in their hotel rooms at different hotels.

The staff are nice and always smile and greet you, but unfortunately they aren’t very good at cleaning, pest control, or keeping reservations organized.

Internet was very spotty and rarely worked. When I was able to get a signal on my phone or laptop, it usually last only a few minutes.

In hindsight, I should have just left and demanded a refund when they put me in an inferior room, when I paid for a “deluxe sea view double.” Surely there are other hotels on the island that actually give you the room you book and pay for, without having to complain and show receipts. And surely there are other hotels that do a better job eliminating or reducing the number of creepy crawly insects and biting flying insects. I literally killed 100 bugs in my room my...

7.5/10 if I could. I booked the deluxe room with a sea view. The view is a 11/10, I spent almost 5 hours on the balcony taking it all in and bird-watching. Saw a couple of collared kingfishers and a golden breasted sunbird! The service was also very helpful, immediately helping with our luggage and giving us a tasty welcome drink. During breakfast the food came out in steps too and they picked up every plate we were done with. I had read other reviews about the room condition so I knew what to expect. Yes, it really was quite bad. The bidet had a puncture, the flow of the shower head's water was inconsistent, and the toilet could not flush tissue (there was no sign) nor completely flush number twos (I had to flush aided with the bidet to get it all going). However, some hotels around Indonesia that provide such a view and such room conditions really do come at this price, perhaps even more expensive with potentially lesser conditions. Such as, a room half the size where you can barely walk, a shared bathroom that isn't always cleaned well, and no breakfast. I paid 700k for my room, which included a full breakfast for two. So, I wasn't too unhappy. It would be great to just fix some parts of the bathroom, and repair then repaint some parts of the ceiling where water had been seeping. With this, paying even 800k ish would be fine! The facilities are vast, with two pools, several view points including a sky deck and a restaurant.

We stopped by for an afternoon coffee, and were pleasantly surprised by this café and hotel. The staff, like everywhere on Labuan Bajo, is exceedingly pleasant and professional. The menu is extensive, but as mentioned, we only had coffee. The grounds of the hotel are spectacular. Well kept, green, and inviting, with a large pool with a bar right next two - well, two, if you count the main bar snd restaurant. The view from this restaurant and café, as well as the hotel, is spectacular. You get a 180 degree of the town and the coastline and this is be one of the prime locations for watching the sunset. That, however, is also a potential downside as many hotels on Labuan Bajo invite non-residents, against a fee, to come and view the sunset. We really don’t like this practice, but it seems very common here. When we visited for an afternoon café there was a tourist group leaving the restaurant, case in point. You may argue that we were no different but there is a big difference between a couple and thirty people occupying a third of all seats available.
