Facility Issues:
No Elevator & High Stairs: The hotel has no elevator, and the stairs are quite steep, making it very inconvenient to carry large luggage. Poorly Designed Water Dispenser: · Although water dispensers are provided on each floor, the thermos flask in the room has a very wide mouth, making it extremely difficult to fill it without spilling water everywhere. · The dispensers often ran out of water in the evening, forcing guests to search different floors for one that worked. Very Poor Soundproofing: The room sound insulation was highly inadequate. We stayed on the third floor but could clearly hear the noise from a washing machine working all night long near the rooftop restaurant, severely disturbing our sleep.
Service & Management Issues:
Breakfast Service Failures: · The pre-ordered "breakfast box" was extremely underwhelming (only 1.5 slices of bread, a banana, a boiled egg, and some jam) and utterly insufficient. · We were forced to switch to having breakfast at the rooftop restaurant. However, the breakfast was never fully prepared by the promised 6:00 AM start time. On one day, there were still no eggs available at 6:15 AM. This is very inconvenient for guests with early tour departures. Serious Transportation Failures: · We booked a paid multi-day transfer service. The manager had promised a "one-day free discount for multi-day bookings." · Except for the first day, the driver was late every single day, making us wait for over 5 minutes. When complained to the front desk, a female staff member not only refused to apologize but also retorted with an attitude, saying, "You didn't wait that long." · On the sixth day, due to poor management, their vehicle was blocked by another car, and they couldn't find the owner to move it. This wasted over ten minutes of our time, and we eventually had to walk to the meeting point. Broken Promise & Personal Insult: · As agreed, I requested to deduct the charge for the unused day. However, the same front desk lady outright denied any promise of a "one-day free discount" previously made by the manager. · When she couldn't provide a reasonable explanation, she resorted to a personal insult, telling me to "get your head checked." This behavior was shocking and utterly unacceptable. Negligent Housekeeping: The housekeeping staff frequently left cleaning tools behind in our room and sometimes forgot to place new liners in...
Read moreI would give it a 4* if i come back here again and if the room has no basic issues.
I stayed in this hotel for 2 separate nights with a total of 3 nights on the island. Middle night i stayed on a boat tour. There are convenience stores and restaurants all around, so it is very simple and easy to get by walking. LBJ airport is close by, so grabbing a ride from and to it isn't too complicated and long.
What you pay is what you get, but if you are looking for a high-end stay, then this isn't the place. It is well value for a fine stay. My first night was a surprise as the washroom was completely a mess. White substance was on the floor and wet while there was some sand stuff on the washroom counter. It seems to have undergone a leak of sort, and the staff weren't aware of it before I checked in. I called the front desk, and they fixed that right away. The wall was breaking apart, so i assume this corner unit i got is often suffering water damage. 2nd night, the room has some mold by the mirror that could be simple cleaned, but it wasn't. One of the light bulbs was burnt out, but in general, it was still okay. AC was functional, and shower water was generally cool or cold, so there was no hot shower, but the weather was so hot for me, and that's fine.
I was able to leave my luggage here for my boat tour and back to pick it up the day after as I checked back in, so that was helpful. Breakfast was okay, and there was a great view of the harbor on the 4th floor from the breakfast place.
I may stay here again, although the building itself is not wonderful, but for the price it charged, I wouldn't ask for too much.
On a side note, this hotel is very nearby a praying place as well as a graveyard. If you are a light sleeper or not comfortable with graves them you may look elsewhere. There is no elevator, or at least not...
Read moreLocated in the very center of the fishing village of Labuan Bajo, this homely hotel on a hill offered a nice and welcoming check-in and porter service to the room. The front desk staff is utmost kind and could without any hesitant guide me into the touristy tips and tricks of this quaint little town. The room itself is clean and spacious, but it is lacking light sources at night, therefore too dark to enjoy reading at night. The bathroom has an "industrial" feel which is difficult to describe in words, but has to be experienced to know. Let just say that the shower outlet is fixed to the wall. There is of course a breakfast buffet. I was pretty glad that the menu is rotated every day. The most impressive feature of the canteen is undoubtedly the harbor and the sea view. What a great sight to enjoy while sipping your first Java of the day! The Wifi speed is cheetah fast and the amenities are satisfactory without being too posh. The balcony is a calm place to sit in the afternoon with the hanging garden plants covering up the afternoon rays. I did try the hotel food for dinner. Although not as tasty and fancy as a bowl of Katsudon from a three-star Michelin restaurant in Japan, the tuna steak I opted for did however went down my throat smoothly, leaving a salty aftertaste (the fish piece could indeed be a tad bigger though). To sum up this stay, I would say it is a great value hotel in the tourist hub of Labuan Bajo with walking distance to everything that is of interest for the week-long sightseer like me. The hotel people are super-duper helpful and the vista from the breakfast sitting area is unbeatable to...
