I stayed for 5-nights at the Sari Pacific hotel for business. I did enjoy my stay here overall, but definitely not a perfect five (I'd say more towards 4.5) due to certain aspects which I'm going to explain on my detailed review below:||1) Location: Undoubtly unbeatable. Plenty of stuff going on around the area especially if you're into shopping and culinary. Sightseeing also possible as this place is close to the National Monument, Presidential Palace, and close enough to various office buildings which is a suitable hub if you have plenty of business meetings in Central Jakarta. The only caveat is the neverending MRT corridor project along Thamrin road which is still happening which cause noise as well traffic because the construction blocked some of the main road lanes. More on noise later.||2) Lobby and Reception: The lobby area is big, plenty of place for seating which is very convenient especially if you're waiting someone or taxi. I do like the interrior which is dominated with gold color and they maintain the timeless design with a bit of modern touch. The front desk staffs were very nice and welcoming, explaining about the hotel amenities including the gym which is still under refurbishment so they made a contract with a third-party gym in the next building to accommodate hotel guests. Concierge staffs also very helpful delivering my stuff to the room. Overall, check-in experience was quiet pleasant. ||3) Room: No upgrade offered, but the standard room is spacious enough. Room is spotless clean, smells nice, and again dominated with gold color which made the design very classy. Both couch and bed are clean and comfortable. There is also a decent size of working desk. Awesome WiFi speed that cross more than 100mbps most of the time. The bathroom has decent size although I'm not a fan of shower-tub combo. If you staying with someone else and need privacy, the transparent glass has privacy curtain. Water pressure surprisingly strong, filling the bathtub in less than 10 minutes. Shower water pressure also very nice although I'm a bit struggling with my height because the ceiling is too low. However, that is not my real complain. My real complain which I think the management needs to pay attention is the noise isolation is very poor. As a hotel that facing the main road, they should do a better job blocking outside noise from traffic, construction, etc. I'm surprised that they did not include this aspect in the refurbishment plan. So light sleeper, be wary of this. ||4) Fiesta Restaurant: Breakfast is served at the Fiesta restaurant in the lobby. It has decent space, but tables are filling up quickly during high occupation. The breakfast buffet has decent options to choose from. My favorite actually the legendary egg benedict. The local options like chicken porridge also good. Service from the staffs here are excellent. ||5) Executive Lounge: The top floor mostly occupied by the executive lounge. The lounge is decent and you definitely feel it's old school charm. It can be super busy during the happy hours between 6-8pm where they served food and drinks. The foods are mostly local Indonesian and Japanese. The service from the staffs also excellent here. No complaint at all. ||6) Sari Delicatessen: I spend lunch twice here, I think my favorite is Salmon Laksa. Good place to hang out, rain or shine. Big wall to wall glass, nice decor, great food, nice cake and bakery. Service is also top notch, I just hope they will fix their roof because it can be leaky during heavy rain. ||It was a pleasant stay overall and I do like to comeback again for another chance. Housekeeping service also very spot on, tidying my room, and refilling all amenities. However, it is not without fault, especially at the nightly rates that they have offered, they should work on improving the noise isolation, knowing that most of their rooms are facing...
Read moreA mix of good and very very bad experience.
As an autograph collection I understand they are refurbishing still from an old hotel, the rooms are brand new and look great and represent the 5 star / mariott brand. The bed and the pillows are superb as other mariott groups. Lounge availability for platinum member which has decent food, just very limited options.
However, the downside is the service (not exactly as their service is generally ok), maybe more towards the consideration for the customer's actual wellness and comfort during the stay does not reflect at all and Mariott may need to consider retraining them despite its an autograph collection, but as it still carries the Mariott brand.
So yes we were informed of the working hours of the refurbishing and we do not mind at all and fully understand and expected noises. Informed that our room that we got the room that is fully renovated already. But to our surprise, there are still some minors constructions that they are doing on the hall of our floor. Initially, we didnt mind as it seems to us that they are just completing on some wallpapers in the hall. Thinking it wont create much noise and they will be done on the late hours and wont bother us.
But turns out it has to do with EVERYTHING, not the noise but the smell. We did notice a thinner-like smell at the start and brushed it off as thinking it'll be gone when they stopped working as the hotel should have a good ventilation system. But yeah, we didn't really realise it in the end, more probably because you know when you are in the room for so long you get used to the smell and thought its already gone even if its still there. So we just slept through the night with it.
The realisation struck when morning comes. As I wake up with my head feels like waking up from a very very bad hangover. Sharp dizziness, spinning and nauseous. I thought I was falling sick or something and checked my forehead if I am having a fever. But no, just headaches very bad (still havent realise the actual source).
Then we got ready and went out of the bedroom and noticed the new thinner/glue smell in the corridor as there was a continuation of the wallpaper work just exactly outside the room. Then started realizing that it is the source of "stuffiness" in the room (again).
So we went to breakfast and did given feedback to the front desk. When we get back and open the room door, it struck like a big truck slamming to my light bulb, It turns out after breathing fresh air in the breakfast hall and lobby, we just realised how much thinner/glue fume was stuck inside our room and we have been breathing it all night long. And confirmed "yeap this is confirmed, the source of my dizziness". Cause I was feeling better despite the slight headache in the breakfast hall, but when I re enter I started feeling nauseous again and even feel like vomiting.
We informed the reception and the duty manager came to check and offered change of rooms. But its too late we are checking out already. Initially planned to late check out but cant stand the nauseating environment and decided to check out earlier than planned.
Hence, this is the ultimate disappointment in the hotel. As I understand and appreciate they informed us of the possible disturbance. But, I believe this thinner/glue fume is another level from a "disturbance". As it has a possible long lasting harm to our health. So as a 5 star hotel and Mariott group, this is unacceptable, I believe. Should've blocked the whole floor if they haven't finished completely to avoid any mishaps and health danger to the customers. Even now typing this I am still feeling like vomiting and no appetite to eat, I don't know if it is part of the side effect (not a doctor). I understand they are not experts on health also maybe, but yeah shouldve be more considerate at least and...
Read moreI stayed for 3 days and 2 nights from August 26th to 28th. It seems like it's just been included in the Marriott family, so I didn't have much information, and I was a little hesitant to hear that it was under construction.
Advantages Kindness of all staff When we inquired about small information by e-mail before our stay, the response was quick, and during check-in, GRO, Ms Sindy Praishellar, recognized us, greeted us brightly, and took us to the lounge to wait until the room was ready. I was a gold member at check-in, but it was nice to feel more welcome because I was provided with a lounge during my stay.
The lounge staff were also very friendly. In any hotel, the lounge staff are friendly, but here it was more friendly. We had a great time especially thanks to Mr Robby, Ms Cahya and Ms Frida. Sitting in a quiet lounge on the weekend, drinking coffee and reading a book was a great break for me.
The concierge staff were also very kind. When I asked for directions to Sarina Department Store to go for a walk in the evening, they walked out of the hotel lobby and kindly gave directions. I've been to several 5-star places in Jakarta, but this kind of warm hospitality was the first time.
Even the housekeeping staff were kind. So impressed Usually, when we run into each other in the hallway, we greet each other lightly, but they smiled brightly and greeted us together, and when we asked for what we needed, they handled it well. I want their bosses to know that everyone on the 6th floor is so kind.
When checking out, the staff asked if there were any problems with the room. So I said that it was a bit difficult to adjust the hot water when I showered. The staff checked right away, apologized, and was provided with a very large, thick cookie the size of the palm of your hand. It was even delicious..
Food Lounge The composition that can be eaten as a main menu such as sushi rolls, smoked salmon, roast beef, and chicken during happy hour or breakfast is very rich and the seasoning is not too strong, so I ate it deliciously. And the bread and cakes are delicious. I especially recommend the scones from afternoon tea time and the cakes from happy hour. At breakfast, If you order menu items such as omelets and soto, and the staff brings them to you from the kitchen. Overall the food was satisfactory.
The Japanese It's a Japanese restaurant located in the lobby, and it only serves AYCE on weekend lunches, but if you really like seafood, you should definitely go here. 490,000 ++ and Marriott members get a 15% discount.
Disadvantage Under construction The lobby and rooms are still under construction, and the swimming pool and gym are not yet under construction. During check-in, I was told that there could be construction noise, and there was a little noise when I entered the room (Room 603). However, the noise didn't last and I couldn't hear it from the pool or lounge. According to the staff, the construction is expected to be completed in 2025.
Swimming pool It is old because it is before construction, and there are some floating objects in the water. And the depth is very deep (2.8 m)
However, I am satisfied because I had a good experience at the hotel enough to take into account all the shortcomings.
While living in Indonesia, I stayed at several places as a Marriott member (Westin, Ritz-Carlton, Marriott, Le Méridien, Renaissance, etc.), but this is the first place where all the staff are professional and provide high-quality service. If I have a chance to stay at a hotel in Jakarta in the future, I will go to this hotel again. I don't think it's going to be a problem under...
