Ringsun Homestay Uluwatu — Hotel in Kuta Selatan

PROS- The bungalows & gardens are Beautifully designed with nature in mind. The setting has Gorgeous view of the Sea from atop a hill. The pool is amazing and naturally heated by the sun, with infinity view of the sea from afar. We enjoyed Living with nature, the monkeys, geckos, the owner’s dogs and cat (we loved that Bella would come for a walk with us). AC worked well and was quiet. Loved the woodwork and the wooden furniture, ambient lighting in bedroom and bathroom. Communication with host is convenient via WhatsApp. King size bed very comfortable. Rooms clean at checkin, and a good size. Hosts friendly and accommodating. Motorbike rental convenient to explore the area better, and to have more choices of restaurants. The best nearby beach Padang Padang, local grocery, and a couple Warungs or homestay restaurants are walking distance up and down a steep hill, 10 minutes., if you are fit and confident to walk up a steep incline, through beautiful woods and paved road. The hotel booked transfer from PadangBai to the hotel for us, as it is a little tricky to locate the 1st time. Hot water showers worked pretty well (could run out of water if taking a long shower, but it does warm up again after some time). Good sized Private balcony with fabulous view of gardens. There are currently only 4 bungalows which are fairly new, (they are building more), so it’s private feeling and quiet which is nice for couples. The bathroom has a sort of skylight built in, so it feels like being outdoors with natural daylight. We stayed 5 nights, and the place has potential so we hope they maintain the quality of the bungalows as we’d love to stay again in the future. We also appreciated the Balinese coffee sachets provided on arrival, the mini fridge, and the refillable drinking water in the shared kitchen. If you love nature and don’t mind a few of natures critters this place is amazing.

CONS- We had a wonderful stay for the price but some things to improve upon: Wifi internet was patchy from room 1, it kept cutting out and was an unstable connection. Shared kitchen could be cleaner, maintained better with more cups and spoons. Minor improvement would be to have the pool lights working in the evenings. Daily cleaning of the rooms would be good, as guests are living with nature (for instance, geckos lived in our bungalow, and did leave droppings round the bungalow, to be cleaned). We did ask for room clean in the middle of our 5 night stay, which was accommodated. Would be good to have a fan in the room. Signs to help find the property on the road could be helpful, as its set back into the hills and roads, and...

We initially planned to stay here for 4 days but ended up checking out after 2 nights due to some issues. Both my husband and I have disabilities that mean steps are difficult for us. We had booked based on the photos on booking.com where the surroundings look flat,and that the steps that are shown appear to be not large,steep or unsafe . Unfortunately there is numerous steep stone steps. Even the steps down to the pool are extremely steep and unsafe. The length of the stairs would be approximately 6 m on a very steep descent. There is no handrails or anything else to assist you getting down to the pool?|The cottages are beautiful and the environment is very natural and breathtaking, you can see and hear the waves. The bed is comfortable and the accommodation was clean. We had a small bar fridge,aircon and room safe. The bathroom was lovely with a semi natural shower,which had a good supply of hot water when water was available. We returned to the accommodation on Friday night to find we didn’t have any water, we had no contact number for staff so we had no way to let staff know this. We contacted them through message booking.com and half an hour later we had water. We have pictures and video to back this up|There is a resident dog and cat,and they are very friendly and the staff are helpful when you find them. There is a communal kitchen that has cooking facilities and is well stocked with plates and other utensils and that is a real bonus. It appears the photos may have been taken in a way to not show the steep steps|Overall we would say the accommodation was 6/10 as it is a relaxing eco friendly place but it is not suitable for most people due to the steps. Overall disappointing. Dirty. On 3 whole days, the cleaning wasn't done on 2. I had to expressively ask the young guy to clean the room and even then, the floor remained dirty. Bathroom light broken, asked him to fix, he didn't do it. The bathroom rugs were dirty garden rugs. FILTHY common kitchen. Bird shit on the floor, the whole place is disgusting. non existent staff except for one young guy, who's nice, but who clearly doesn't do his job. sketchy staff. Beforehand l asked on booking how much the bike rental, told me 100k. And on the day of arrival, the guy tells us 150k. noisy. Massive constructions on the hill in front, all day. The hotel informed us and is « sorry for the inconvenience » on the morning of our arrival. Of course it was too late to cancel the booking. We wanted to relax by the pool, it was impossible. The drilling works are super loud, can hear it from inside the bedroom. Couldn't even take a proper nap. We asked the hotel for a gesture (ex: a discount on the scooter) and they simply refused.
