DON'T BE FOOLED BY ITS LOOKS! I would avoid this place if you don't want to ruin your night or get sick from their food!
The moment I sat down on the bench indoors, the cushions had a damp, mouldy smell to them which is already off putting when I need to sit there to eat. We both ordered a young coconut each and the Thai coconut curry each - one with prawns and one with tofu. When our young coconuts came, my friend's one seemed fresh but mine came already looking brown (including the inside of the opening where they put the straw) - and we all know how long it takes for a coconut to start to turn brown like that so this means it was opened and left there for quite a while before it was served...
When our Thai coconut curry came, the presentation was quite average as the coconut that had the curry in were all brown and looks rather old. It also tasted like one of the worst Thai curries I've had ever... it was practically just water with some veggies. There was pretty much no taste. I took a bite of the tofu and it tasted like it was starting to turn SOUR so I didn't eat any because I did not want food poisoning. Tofu can go off quite quickly in the heat so I'll just eat the vegetables in the curry instead and as I focused on the veggies, I started to notice that some veggies inside the curry like courgettes were looking shivered up and brown while some looked a bit more fresh. The carrots in my friend's curry was also looking black so the ingredients used are definitely very old and probably has been cut and exposed for awhile before it was cooked. They tried to cover it up by adding some fresh ones in it. The rice served with the curry also felt dry on the exposed parts so it was probably left out for a long while too! If you don't want food poisoning then it is best to avoid this place!
As I didn't eat much, the waiter came over and asked me what's wrong and I was just going to brush it off and get out of there since business is probably hard after covid but he kept insisting I tell him why so I told him that the tofu tasted like it was spoiled. He then took my plate in and after 5 mins of speaking to the owner, he came back out and asked me 'have you tasted tofu before?'. I said 'of course!'. He then asked 'how many times have you had tofu? and I said 'many times!' - I have tasted a lot of tofu before since it is part of my diet ever since I am a toddler... He then tried to tell me that it is because I am not used to Indonesian tofu and this is how tofu normally are here and I am wrong. (PS - I also had Indonesian tofu throughout my trip and they didn't have a sour taste like this one did!) This is not how you should serve a customer and it just seems like the owner is in denial with how bad his food taste and how poor the quality of the ingredients are.
We ended up not eating much of the food but still paid the full price because we just wanted to get out of there, so if you want some good food and good service, DON'T COME HERE! Only able to pay with credit card is also...
Read morethe food and place was okay. i truly like the pesto penne and watermelon juice but the service… :/ it was my very first time here. i sit in front of the bar and i was genuinely asking for the menu BECAUSE IT WAS MY FIRST TIME HERE. and then the staff explained how to scan the menu and all, that was sweet but after that, they comment about me in sundanese. i don’t wanna imitate what they say about me but i clearly understand sundanese because i came from bandung and it shocked me. i was just asking about the menu and being judged about it? sorry for not being “teliti” and not looking around for the menu by myself. oh anyway to that sundanese staff, hapunten aa/teteh tapi abdi moal balik deui 🙏🏻 amun aya bu bade dicariosan mah cariosan we ka abdi teu kedah cariosan anu kasar. hapunten bilih abdi aya kalepatan kusabab nanyakeun menu na di mana. oh also there are millions people can speak sundanese lol you better judge people in silent especially its about your customer. ya ada lah tempatnya ngga perlu di depan customernya apalagi nada nya kenceng kaya kemarin. this is not 2 people actually, this is that one person but i don’t know the gender.. so i call them they, sorry. the other staffs are super kind, the girl and the guy at the front welcoming us with such a smiley face + no judgement until the end. actually there’s nothing wrong with judging people but still be careful.. they might don’t like it and start a fight because they understand the language and don’t feel COOL about it. i would still comeback to this place but i won’t ask anything anymore bc i am still shocked hahah. sorry...
Read moreSaw this place on Google maps and thought the name is cool, so I gave it a try. Initially there were no vacant indoors seats, so we were given the outdoor area, it was crazy hot even with the fans, so we asked to be shifted in once a table is avail. There are plenty of outdoor seating with pretty decor (5stars for outdoors seating). However, there are limited indoor seating available. The indoor seats have 1 high communal table right in front of the bar, and the other tables were all around/facing the toilet or the sink (3stars for indoor seating). My table was right in front of the sink and mirrors, didn’t really like it but we had no other choices and didn’t want to leave for somewhere else (cuz the weather was too hot and we were realy hungry).
My tuna steak burger and green matcha latte were yummmmmmmsss. MUST TRY!! Matcha latte was also on point, I love it very much! (5stars for my food) But my partner’s breaded prawns with fries & juice was disappointing (as picture). Fries tasted hard and room temperature. We thought that the mix juice is freshly squeezed but it’s in a pre-filled bottled form (not an big issue just wrong expectation). We didn’t finish the prawns nor the fries (1.5stars for his the food).
Service staff were all amazing and kind. Always an amazing experience with Balinese, they are the kindest, nicest and most helpful people ever. Cheers to the excellent service team that took...
