It’s June 10th, and we’re still here — stuck, because we don’t want to check out and still get charged. This hotel has proven it cannot be trusted, and we’re now working directly with Agoda, who has been more helpful than anyone at this property has even tried to be.

I’m a hotel manager, and I would never handle a guest experience like this. The lack of basic hospitality, communication, and accountability here is actually wild.

Let’s start from the beginning.

When we arrived, I asked to be taken to an ATM. The one he brought me to didn’t work, so he took me to a random store that charged a fee to get cash — felt like a scam.

That night, we ordered plain olive oil pasta and garlic bread, and it came with meat on top. After I complained, they remade it and it came back cold — honestly felt like they just pulled the chicken off and resent it. As a vegan, that’s disgusting.

The next day, we went to use the gym. It was under construction, with no prior warning. I already took pre workout (IYkYK) After complaining, they texted us saying the gym would be under construction for the rest of our stay. Well duh

Then there’s the broken front door…

Housekeeping never showed up unless we requested it — and even then it was half-done- until today. We ran out of toilet paper, clean water, and towels multiple times.

There is mold everywhere, and construction noise daily. 8am until midnight apparently.

One day I took the shuttle with Arista, who is absolutely amazing. So kind, helpful, and professional — she is def the bright light.

Yesterday we decided to use the shuttle again to go to Dreamland Beach so my bf could surf. We texted the hotel — they told us to meet in 5 minutes. When we got there, they said the shuttle wasn’t on property (we could see it), then said it didn’t have gas, and then that the driver was on break. After 20minutes, Yoga took us.

I told him we’d be ready to leave at 4:30pm, and said “please don’t forget us” (half-joking). At 4:10, we texted the hotel for pickup. They said “10 minutes.” After waiting in the meeting point, we followed up & was told the driver ran out of gas & it would be another 40 minutes. Then they stopped replying altogether. So yeah — we WALKED back from Dreamland. My bf was barefoot btw.

When we got back, we asked to speak to the manager. They said he wasn’t on-site. 10mins later — surprise! He appears. He apologized and asked for a chance to make things better.

We walked back to our villa — & were hit with toxic smoke being blown in. I got an instant migraine (I have epilepsy). We went back to the manager — he said it was “normal.”

We tried to shake it off and go to dinner, which was great — until we came back at 9pm to find construction workers on our roof, with a clear view into our “private” villa and pool. They were only on OUR roof, which felt weird and unsafe. I ran to the front desk — another apology. It took over an hour to get them off the roof. Ruined our night.

My bf had been texting the hotel on WhatsApp, & they offered a partial refund… only to delete the messages after. LOL. Too bad we have screenshots.

The manager, RUDY ( who is awful) scheduled a meeting with us the next morning — just to ask if we were going to check out. He offered a refund for the unused nights. No shit, sir. Why would we pay for days we didn’t stay? & why are you trying to get rid of us instead of fixing the problems? It really feels like they want us to leave, like we’re the problem — instead of taking any accountability for what’s gone down.

. Still giving them time before I take this to my social media following, but the clock is ticking.

housekeeping, ocha, & kitchen staff, Luge (I think that’s his name) are amazing!!!

We stayed at PinkCoco last week — also booked through Agoda — and it was amazingggg. One issue with construction drilling and they upgraded us to a beautiful suite and comped two glasses of wine — without us even asking. That’s hospitality.

If you’re considering Sterling Villas — don’t do it. Go to PinkCoco. You’re welcome.

Currently staying here. I was really worried, because I read all the reviews here and on booking about mold and abandonment of the property, but let me tell you, it’s not bad at all!!! Let’s start with the main positive thing for me - condition of the villa. Before deciding on the unit I asked them to show two different villas at check in and they did and let me tell you - it’s 99% what it looks like on the pictures! I inspected both units for mold - didn’t find any. First unit I was shown had a little wear on kitchen cabinets, but that’s it. It was absolutely clean, no stains in the shower, toilet etc, no cracked corners on the furniture. Pool was clean, water didn’t smell of chlorine or anything else. Also! All these villas are actually 3 bedroom, if you book it as 1 bedroom, they just lock two bedrooms on the bottom floor (they are 2 story villas!), but you still get to use a full bathroom downstairs and there is a whole room with a washer, ironing board, iron and a thing where you hang your clothes to dry. So at the price they offer, it’s a fantastic deal! AC in both bedroom and kitchen works great. Now the negative (but not really). This place was built in 2017 and the villas part is finished, but around they started building 2 or 3 main buildings that would have regular rooms and they got hit with COVID. So they stopped, so from the back you have 6-7 story unfinished buildings, but windows of all villas look at the opposite side, so you only see it when you walk outside your villa, get on your scooter and leave, do it doesn’t really matter. About how close everything is - there is a restaurant called “cashew tree” within 10 minutes walk, little store to buy beer at, but that’s it. I don’t understand why people complain about it, if you wanna to get around in Bali - you will absolutely have to rent a scooter. They have an app like Uber where they pick you up, but you better know how to ride a scooter, otherwise this trip will be really uncomfortable. Also, for those who watched video bloggers like I did - except for the beaches - Bali is just a village. Roads are very bad and there is trash/abandoned buildings/construction EVERYWHERE. Overall, these villas is, in my opinion, the best accommodation in Uluwatu. I really hope this place makes a lot of money to finish their...

This hotel experience just continued to get worse… I would like to mention a lot of the staff is good! Especially Ocha and arista!!! The manager Rudy is terrible!!! Did absolutely nothing and escalated numerous situations. He basically laughed in our face and refused to respond back to agoda when we reported the false advertising and run down conditions. Beware of these fake five star paid reviews, they are from locals and are fake reviews!! Here’s a summary of what we’ve experienced: We were taken to a closed off-site ATM, despite the listing implying convenient access. A vegan meal was served with meat, even though we had clearly stated dietary restrictions. The gym is under construction, with no prior disclosure. The shuttle to the beach left us stranded, forcing us to walk back bare foot. We returned to find toxic smoke being blown into our villa, which triggered my gf to have a migraine. She is epileptic and this was a serious health risk. We were left without toilet paper, clean water, or fresh towels for an extended period. Our villa was not cleaned unless requested, and even then, cleaning was delayed or barely done. The front door is broken, creating serious safety concerns. We came back from dinner after being stranded and smoked out to find construction workers on our roof working under spot lights at 9pm with full visibility into our private villa and pool, which felt invasive and violating. We addressed these issues directly with the property manager on two separate occasions. He basically laughed at us and told us to take it up with booking.com, his only response was to offer early check-out — and no actions were taken to resolve the problems. In fact, conditions worsened after we gave him time to make things right. Even the next day, we found workers again working on our roof.
