At this price point there is no better place to stay in Malang. Located around a 15 minute walk from the train station and a Alfamart around the corner. You can also walk to the rainbow village in less than 15 minutes. There are many restaurants in the vicinity, there is even a small food court and some ATMs next door.
The two person capsule is very spacious and the bed might even fit three people. The mattress is not the softest but it suffices. The capsules also have individual air conditioning so you can control the temperature a bit. To open the capsule, all you require is a QR code which you can get via the Bobobox app - so don't forget your smartphone. The app also let's you control the lights in the capsule.
One major inconvenience of the room and the hotel in general is that the lights in the hallway never go out. Moreover, you can't fully block out the light coming through the window so don't forget your eyeshades if you prefer to sleep in the dark. I also recommend bringing some earbuds since families with little kids tend to stay here as well and they won't always comply with the silent hours.
The capsule hotel also has a large balcony with a shared seating area. Here you can find a sink with a microwave and electric kettle. The hotel also provides unlimited free drinking water. In addition, there is a praying area in the building.
The toilets and showers were mostly clean. Showers have shampoo and body wash attached to the wall.
Overall, I definitely recommend staying here. Similar to other hostels you have to take into account that you are not alone, so if you highly value a good night's sleep don't forget your eyemask and earplugs. The price...
Read moreI liked the Bobopod! It gives you privacy in a cheap way. I had the double just for myself, I think in the smaller ones it can be quite hard to pack your stuff. With the AC it can be quite cold at the night but I asked for another blanked and became one after I asked an out her time. There’s a mechanism where you can close the AC but mine made wears sounds so I just kept it open. The mattress is too hard. I really like the monitor where you can change the light and sound. Also they have a kitchen and free water. It was really noisy in the morning.. you hard voices, alarms and everything. I was lucky I had an upper bad and not on the ground. You should wear earplugs. What I didn’t like was the bathroom situation. Not once I’ve seen someone cleaning it. And I don’t like it that they want you to take your shoes off in front of the bathroom so you should go to the toilet without shoes. I can do that when I know everything is clean, but I definitely don’t do it when I have the feeling the bathroom and toilets are dirty, sorry. The showers were always full of hair and the toilet seats never really clean. At least they had sanitizer for it. What I also didn’t like was that only once someone asked me to clean the room. After that never and 3 nights I had the same towel. Also my trash in my room was full of black hair, so no one cleaned it before, that’s disgusting. It’d be lovely if the staff would give a few recommendations for what to do in the area. They should work on their cleanliness and it would be lovely to have a fridge as well in the kitchen :-) and a coffee machine that also works for foreign people not only for people with indonesian...

the terrace is very nice to sit and eat, BUT as a non smoker its impossible to enjoy staying there, so many people smoking, there is almost always someone. The smoke goes everywhere on the terrace. There is a small place to sit in front of the reception indoors also, but it smells like sweaty shoes there and the Ac is also cold checkin and access to the room only possible with an app, that is a little annoying but makes sense from a...
