I am not one to complain, but this was a terrible experience at a hotel that seemed pretty clean and nice.
Tried making a coffee first thing after getting into the room. Not sure if the machine was cracked or clogged but it began to run water all over the counter and into the ground. Called the front desk, they said they would be sending someone up right away to clean the mess and provide a new machine. 1.5 hours later no one had shown up. Called again and they finally sent someone. The gentlemen was not informed of the mess and had to get us extra towels as we cleaned the mess ourselves…
The TV channels are not good. A bunch of reality tv shows and few channels playing old American films anywhere from the 50’s to late 90’s (the bad ones). At least our other hotels around Dublin and cork offered several other film options for late night watching. Do we all own streaming accounts no a days? Yes! Then offer us a way to steam to the tv instead of giving us bad tv stations.
No vending machines in the hotel, can only purchase food from the restaurant which closes at 10:30. If you’re traveling from a very different time zone and your meals are a little off, try and bring food into the hotel with you if you plan to get back late or will need a snack. Prices at the hotel were not worth it anyways ($$$)
Bar does not have any food for eating according to the front desk. Did not go in for a drink, prices weren’t great for a typical bar.
Tried ordering room service to get one of the very few items they offer (like a spicy burrito??) late at night but no one was answering the phones. At all.
the shower did not offer a consistent temperature of water. After fidgeting with every possible temperature the shower would still not hold at one temp. It would sit at the temperature you have set, then drop in 10-15 degrees, then go back to your setting. This happened at least every 10-20 seconds. Was a terrible experience. What is funny is that the hand sink probably got to near boiling temperature.
On top of all of this, our “queen” mattress was two, twin sized beds pushed together. Big deal? Not entirely, but tell people before you let them book a room with a queen.
They don’t offer amenities other than a gym across the street you need to walk to.
They said the shuttle runs every 20 minutes on the hour. Showed up 2 minutes early to meet our shuttle and was told it had already left. What is funny is that I had called 30 minutes prior and was told when it would leave. The bus was back within 7 minutes. It runs often but not at exact time frames.
I advise any people looking for a hotel near the airport to dodge it. First time in Ireland and we wish we had stayed in the city our last 2 days. Other hotels offer a shuttle AND free breakfast. This one does not...
Read moreA short-walk from Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport, the Radisson Blu Hotel is conveniently located whether you are flying out, having a layover, or returning, and in need of a comfortable space to relax. I stayed 1 night with my fiancè after returning from our holiday, and needed somewhere to rest before making the next step of our journey home. The reception staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and made us feel immediately welcome. That very typical Irish hospitality isn't lost despite being such a large hotel. We found our room to be very clean, well maintained, spacious, and with all the amenities we required. The double bed was soft and comfortable, and we enjoyed the pressure of the shower. The toiletries supplied seemed of nice quality, and the towels were good sizes too. Breakfast was not up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel, and I felt some things could be improved upon. For example, the apple juice had definitely been watered down, which made it undrinkable for me. The hash browns were stored in the same pot as the grilled tomatoes, which left the hash browns soggy. The only eggs available were scrambled, which were watery and bland. The same spoon was used for meat products and mushrooms. The baked beans were watery. No vegetarian or vegan sausages were offered, but there was bacon, sausage, white and black pudding, and sliced meat for meat eaters. The same serving implement was used for sliced cheese, and meat. A lot of cross-contamination was occurring. I found the sauce packet area empty, but a member of staff was happy to refill it upon request. The tables didn't seem to be getting a good clean between use - a staff member was using a wet rag to wipe them down, no cleaning products were being used. Even without covid, I feel this is unacceptable in a food establishment. These points aside, there was a good selection of fruit, cereals, pastries, bread, granola, nuts, and seeds. There was also a jug of soya milk available for cereal, although none at the coffee station, so I had to bring my tea over to the cereal area to use the soya milk. It isn't a long walk, though, so I didn't really mind. However, others may not realise that milk alternatives are available as it isn't mentioned anywhere near the coffee machine. Checking out was an easy and pleasant experience. The cleaning staff all said hello when we met in the hallway, and wished us a good day. We were able to refill our water bottles with complimentary lemon and cucumber water at reception, which was very much appreciated! We also made use of the free shuttle bus to the airport, where we caught our bus home. The driver was really friendly,...

Upon arrival at Dublin Airport I eventually found the temporary pick up point for the courtesy bus which only appeared after a phone call prompt to the hotel.
The lobby area of the hotel is bright, clean, well decorated and the reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Having checked in I made my way to my room which, on initial inspection, looked sparse and uninviting. No wall art, poorly finished paint work and ill fitting carpet. Venturing into the bathroom lead to further disappointment - tired bath, vanity unit and strangely positioned toilet (wedged in a corner). The bath/shower was dated and corrosion was evident on and around the bath side panel, the grout had black mould on it and other areas of the bathroom had rough filler and mastic/sealant that had clearly been applied either in the dark or by someone who had little care or pride in their work. The provided bathroom products felt cheap and of low quality.
Moving back into the bedroom the tea/coffee station was no better than that found in a Premier Inn or Travelodge.
Did I get a good nights sleep - no not really! The pillows were wafer thin and I needed to use 3 of the 4 to support my head.
Being at the hotel to use the conference facilities I made use of the iron in the room - which turned out to be faulty. The power to the iron kept cutting out every time the cable moved and the ironing board scissor legs could easily take a finger off if not used with caution.
Returning downstairs to meet colleagues for dinner the restaurant area was well presented and the food was of a good standard. The bar seemed a little neglected and soulless. The conference facilities were good. Rooms were well equipped, clean and tidy. Refreshments were available throughout the day and the facility staff were very accommodating.
In summary, the hotel downstairs appeared to be very nice and had clearly had some money spent in the communal areas. The bedrooms (colleagues made similar comments to the above) were tired and of a low standard. Whatever refurbishment has gone on upstairs felt rushed and lacked attention to detail. Having stayed in the Radisson Blu at Manchester airport the two hotels, under the same brand, are worlds apart. Based on my experience of the bedroom I would rate this hotel 3 star...
