IMPORTANT. Unless you like carrying luggage up and down step stairs, this is not the place for you. You won't be told about the number of steps until after the refund period, but rather 48hrs before your stay. There are over 100 steps to this property from the nearest road. To walk from the Amalfi bus/boat dock is over 300 steps and about 30min, not the 16min falsely reported on the site. My wife and I are fit and travel light, yet found this location to be exhausting with luggage. The view is fantastic, but there is no way to this property from above or below without walking on steep stairs, while also being harrassed by aggressive, loose dogs. (See pictures) The AC and WiFi are weak. Part of the shower door is missing, walls are thin. No laundry facilities as advertised. The listing has many false statements, such as "10 steps to the entry." Hotels.com doesn't care about the false information either. We checked out 2 days early, but provided no refund or help. Trust the Google reviews. UPDATE: Despite the owner's reply, we did NOT walk from Amalfi center with large suitcases. We took a taxi to the road above the unit, also where the bus stops, and walked down the many steps with 2 backpacks and a medium rolling suitcase. We never met the owner, so I don't know where he comes off making these statements. Instead of being transparent up front in the listing, he would rather lie about the situation, and blame his customers. Please see the photo of the screenshot from Hotels.com stating there are 10 steps. (They have since updated it to read "10 stairs", so they finally acknowledge the mistake.)

I found this to be a decent place to stay if you want a great view. The holiday home is up quite a few flights and it is tiring, and you need to be of good fitness to walk it although there is a bus stop not far away, although I didn't personally it. It is an apartment but there are only tea spoons (so I had to flip my sausages with 2 spoons), no kettle or mugs (only espresso cups), no plates, the gas stove only has one burner that works as the tops have been removed. The washroom doesn't have any hand soap only shower gel, which we didn't need as we had our own however we didn't bring any hand soap as we didn't think we'd need any in a toilet. I sat outside on my final day in Italy and watched the lightning and heard the thunder with a great view of the Amalfi, which was spectacular. Leonardo will contact you just before 3pm with your gate code and room number (there are 3 rooms). So, if you know this then you know what to expect.

We stayed for 2 nights at Gennaro Amalfi. First I would like to clarify this is not a 4 star hotel. The place is clean and the owner is nice. There are few things which I would like to share with you all if you are thinking of booking this place. 1) This place is on the hill. It takes minimum 14 mins(we timed it) to go down to the beach. The path mostly steps and two barking dogs. Pls refer my picture 2) The terrace is communal so its not a private terrace. Owner has kept table and chair outside the room to sit. But there is no privacy. 3) Bed is bit hard not comfortable. 4) Look at the water from tap. Not sure if the water in Amalfi is like this or this is from this place.

I definitely don’t recommend this place. Total disappointment, here is why:

Flat is not clean and needs renovation: there is mould in the bathroom, the cuttlery and drawers are dirty, furniture is old and used.

This place is dark and you can’t change air because there is no window, only a door. Also once you close the door shutters to protect your privacy from others passing by there is zero natural light inside.

Cheap and untidy plastic chairs and tables on the balcony. If you sit down the view is not quite like on the pictures honestly...

The „breakfast” (which is supposed to be included according to the Booking reservation) is a couple of really cheap, budget packed croissants and jam

Overall the official pictures suggest a much better place then what you get. For a little more money you can rent a hotel in Amalfi which is definitely what you need to consider. After a one night stay the first thing to do was to get up very early and leave.

**regarding the owner's reply:

1, Firstly the photos speak for themselves. The room is not clean, at least ours was not, sorry.

2, I wrote nothing about how far the Residenza is from Amalfi, I had no problem with that. What is your point then?

3, I did check other places in Amalfi but trusted the original photos on which your place looks much better than in reality. Bad choice. You don't need to rent a 5 star hotel to expect clean your rooms at least.

4, You refer to the Booking site. Well then read it again if you state no meal is included because it sais 'with breakfast'.

5, If you run a place you are not supposed to be devaluing your customers. Make your place better and respect people who pay you money instead so you won't get...

LOTS OF STAIRS. Don’t come to this place unless you’re strong enough to carry your bags up hundreds of rough rocky stairs to reach any car-accessible road. No taxi will be willing to come to the residence and help with the baggage, and the local porter service (the only service in the area) is ridiculously expensive. You’ll have to climb up and down all those stairs yourself and feel miserable doing it.

Buses don’t come through the area frequently. Also, the drivers don’t stop at regular bus stops unless they have passengers getting off. A bus passed right by me while I was waiting at the bus station, and I ended up missing the ferry to Capri even though I had left more than 1 hour before the ferry departure time.

There’s also a church next to the residence that’s kind of scary if you arrive late. I wouldn’t have been able to stay at the residence if I had been alone. The church bell rings every 30 minutes at night when the place seems empty.

Water was not hot enough so I had to do a really quick cold shower after sweating a lot from the stairs.

It is a vacation house not a hotel/air bnb, so the host won’t be around. Please keep it in mind. It would be a good place for a person either with a backpack looking for long, quiet stay without any rush in schedule as it...
