Horrible Experience at Lido Azzurri in Italy!!
I’ve never felt compelled to write a review before, but our experience at Lido Azzurri was so terrible that it’s worth everyone knowing. The only reason I’m even giving this place half a star is because of its location.
After touring Italy for three weeks, we decided to dine at Lido Azzurri, which turned out to be the most expensive restaurant we visited, with the worst service and tasteless food. From the moment we arrived, the waiter’s attitude was appalling—arrogant and condescending.
The food was equally disappointing. The lunch we had was the crappiest meal of our entire trip, utterly lacking in flavor. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough, and when we went to pay, my wife asked if she could use the restroom. The waiter dismissively replied, “It’s being cleaned.” Something about his tone and the look of entitlement on his face didn’t sit right with me, so I decided to check for myself. Sure enough, the restroom was wide open, unoccupied, and hadn’t been cleaned in a day. I called my wife over to use it, which she did without any issue.
As I walked back to the front, I overheard the waiter asking the front counter in Italian if I had paid. I turned to him and said, “You better be careful with what you say because I understand Italian. The next time you lie to a customer, I will make it well known how bad this restaurant is and how poor your attitude is.” He then asked me to leave and locked the door behind me.
Stay away from Lido Azzurri! This place is a rip-off with atrocious service and dreadful food. Save your money and your time—find...
Read moreThis was our first experience dining in Italy and almost discoloured our entire experience of the country.
Despite having a reservation, we were ignored for 20 minutes upon arriving with multiple staff ignoring eye contact with us the entire time. We were even ignored after lining up at the cashier to speak to someone, being front of the line (and leaning on the desk) with the waiters preferentially serving two Italian speaking families behind us, and walking away from us when they were helped. It took my wife two attempts to physically block the cashier lady's path to garner their attention and for us to finally get our table, another 10 mins later.
As for the food, it was completely lacking flavour and overpriced. The zucchini flowers with sardines was pretty much just batter. We decided to try their recommended speciality which was the lemon fish, and it was one of the blandest fish we've ever had. We were pressured into ordering another one of their fishes as the waiter mentioned the serving size was very very small, which was equally as bland.
Overall, it was the rudest and most disappointing food experience we've ever had, and we were delighted to know that not everywhere in Italy is like this. I've never left a poor review on any restaurant, however I feel as if this restaurant gains undue credit on TikTok/online recommendations for its formerly good reviews online and food location. We'd warn people from going here and highly recommend other places in...
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant with a friend. Unfortunately, my friend was not feeling well and had an upset stomach, which meant she couldn't eat anything and was merely accompanying me for the meal. When I placed my order with the waitress and informed her that I was the only one ordering food, she replied that we couldn't do that and insisted that we order two meals for the two of us. This policy sounded strange to me, especially since half of the tables at the restaurant were empty, and they weren't busy. I asked her, "What if it was just me sitting here?" Ignoring my question, she responded that I still needed to order something for two people. Her tone was rather rude, so I asked if she preferred that I leave because I couldn't consume two meals. At this point, she scornfully turned her attention to my friend. Their conversation went as follows: "Why wouldn't you order anything?" "I am sick." "You can have a salad." "No, I cannot. I told you I am sick." "What kind of sickness?" "Diarrhea." Upon hearing this, she reacted with obvious disdain, took the menu, and walked away. Needless to say, we left the...
