Had dinner at the Acquolina last night. Everything about the experience was amazing. We were given a warm welcome and shown to our table promptly upon arrival. We had eaten here on a previous visit to Pogerola pre-COVID so knew that portions are enormous. We asked for advice on size and choices and our server explained everything in accurate detail. We started with the anti-pasta board of meats and cheeses. It says it is for 2, however ample for 3 or even 4. We chose steak, tomato and onion salad and chips for our main. Our daughter was with us and one serving of steak was ample for the three of us. Our daughter eats hers blue so we asked if it was possible to have it served two ways - blue and medium rare. This was no problem at all. Kelly got hers on a separate plate. The meat was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The chips were excellent. We live in Canada so crave good chips when we visit Europe. These were again excellent. The tomato and onion salad was yum. The tomatoes were locally grown and unbelievably sweet - so good. My hubby even spoke to the owner on the way out to comment on the wonderful tomatoes. 🤣🤣. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert so can’t tell you anything - but based on everything else we ate I have absolutely no doubt it would have been scrumptious. Congratulations to everyone at the Acquolina we had an amazing night yet again. We wish you continued success with your restaurant and look forward to seeing you next time we visit Pogerola....
Read moreAcquolina is a true culinary experience and a real hidden gem. Tucked away in the quiet mountain village of Pogerola, it’s a nice break from the tourist bustle of the coastal towns. From beginning to end, the meal was virtually impeccable including a mix of classic Italian and signature fusion dishes (the gyoza is a must) to pair with a great curated wine list. We knew we were in for something special when they brought out a savory “welcome” sfogliatelle. We ended with a local dry aged entrecôte on the bone served in a cast iron- the sizzle alone was worth the visit. The staff were lovely and engaging, even bringing us a celebratory honeymoon shot of their home made limoncello. If you’re on the Amalfi coast, Acquolina should be at the top of your...
Read moreUndoubtedly the best food of our trip. We discovered this place late on and twice walked up the hill from the Excelsior hotel; they will pick you up if you ask and are open every day for lunch and dinner. Quality fresh ingredients, vegetables from their garden, flavoursome cooking, well kept premises with terrace and view, attentive service, good prices, excellent value for money. Specialising in grilled meat (my wife had an amazing steak), “Italian fusion” and pizza (they offer a takeaway service). They catered well for my whole-food plant based diet, so also a perfect choice for any vegans or vegetarians among you. They’ve only been going four months, a delightful young couple who deserve to succeed, give them a try and I’m sure...
