Our room, a "suite" was huge, beautiful and perfectly maintained, and lit by a large antique chandelier. The B&B is in a highly historic building. Our room incorporated the duplex arches of the original building, giving it a very elegant ambiance. The windows overlooked the piazzas, the Porta Uzeda and the Dusmet. The main historical sites of Catania could not be closer. Yet, despite the very busy setting, the soundproof windows and shutters almost completely shut out the sound. On the other had, open the shutters and windows an you are a part of lively neighborhood. The bus station is a short walk and the bus stop for the airport is close. Good restaurants abound. We dined at Materia Prima and recommend it. So far we have an upscale B&B in an exceptionally historic setting. Unfortunately, the training of the staff was uneven. One was surly, one helpful. The breakfast was just edible. I'd suggest skipping it and dining at one of the nearby bars or cafes which have excellent food and coffee. The checkout time was set at 10:00 AM, evidently for the convenience of the management and the inconvenience of the guest. It's a place which shows good taste and care in the creation of the rooms and then been given over to...
Read moreThe room is very clean with strong air conditioning and the location is perfect, right next to the cathedral and steps away from the bus stop. However, I wish I had stayed in an apartment rental instead of this property.
The main reason I booked this b&b is because the owners listed it online as having an airport shuttle, but when I arrived I discovered this isn’t true. They also don’t serve breakfast despite being called a bed and breakfast. There are kettles in the rooms but no tea, coffee or mugs. There was also a refrigerator that didn’t work and smelled as though something had gone bad inside. The bedroom was very clean and up to date, but the bathroom was dirty and looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 80s .
The front desk staff, when they were around, were very nice. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to help me with anything I really needed, like a ride to the airport, and the credit card machine was down when I arrived so I had to...
Read moreThis very tiny accommodation is right in the center of Catania, one of our favourite towns in Sicily. The service can't be better and you feel like staying in a 4 star hotel. The advantage of three comfortable beds was one of our reasons why we booked this room for 90 euro including little breakfast. ||In the morning you recognise that you have stayed in the middle of the famous fish market. This is only one must - have - seen in Catania. From here you can drive to Taormina or Syrakus. To Palermo we've needed 2 hours approximately. ||But back to the accommodation. Everything is very clean and modern. The table can be used for having breakfast. For all questions you can ask the kindly man at the reception. He didn't talk much with us but gave us everything we needed. ||So it is definitely worth it to staying here and enjoy the hotel comfort in the middle of the...
