Myself and my friend stayed in Hotel City for 3 nights. Hotel was ok for the price. We have booked two separate beds which were not ready at our arrival. We have been told we need to wait till morning to get this arranged. We are not fussy so we have rearranged beds ourselves for the first night using additional 2 duvets that were in the room.|One of those was stained so we used clean one and beds were split for us following morning.|Hotel premises were nice, but bathroom and lift were quite dated.|Second night some guests on our floor caused a lot of noise and we couldn't sleep so I tried to ring reception-unsuccessfully as number provided on the emergency info attached to the door was not correct. There was no numbers programmed in the phone or any other information so I ended up walking down to the reception and notifying them of the disruption. After few minutes of explaining of what was going on to person in the reception who had no English ( but he was trying to help and was very nice) we used translator on the phone an paper and pencil, eventually I went back to the room and after a while noise was dealt with and we could go back to sleep.|Generally it was nice stay untill us leaving on the last day and some other person on the reception was there and for some reason very unhelpfull, and generally rude ( however speaking quite well.english).|We tried to order a taxi and as I had question he said we can always leave a taxi if unhappy saying dasvitannia. Which if I'm not mistaken is Russian. I'm a Polish orygin however not speaking Russian. I made a comment saying that we don't speak Russian and then I got a reply with attitude- What language do.u speak? I said I'm ok with English, Polish and Spanish. But he grunted and I said then that Poland and Russia are to different countries to what he replied that he knows. |I thought it was rude and obviously he had a problem with people from that side of the world.||Other Hotel staff was nice but it left bad taste and I would not choose this hotel based on that.||Breakfast was good.|Hotel is in very good location we thought. 5 min walk to the lake.15 min walk to the train station ( up...
Read moreCity Hotel Desenzano||The hotel is ideally situated 5 minutes walk from the lake in Desenzano. A comfortable 15/20 minute walk to the train station. It is very clean and efficiently run with 24hr receptionist on duty. We had a slight problem with our next door neighbours who were very loud. We informed reception who said they would be spoken to, never heard them again, thank you! Hotel staff also organised airport pick up and drop off service with a local courier. |Breakfast was beautiful, a range of coffees and teas available. Cooked breakfast, pastries (incl vegan) cakes, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals and eggs. A selection of breads and jams also locally sourced delicious honeycomb. Seating inside and out. Our lovely waitress Rafaela runs a tight ship and can come across a little brusque but keeps the food replenished, the tables spotless and the toaster from rogue breads that have no place in there! Woe betide if your bread is not compatible on her watch (there are clear instructions to be fair) but do feel she has the guests best interests at heart and is very helpful. |Beds were large, comfortable and had quality linens. Beds made and towels changed daily if you wish. A modern bathroom with a large and efficient shower. |A special thank you to staff member Claudio for his warm welcome, sense of humour, intellect and love of poetry. He rounded our evenings off beautifully with expertly poured drinks and great conversation. |All in all a very good, clean hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to stay...
Read moreOur stay here has been brilliant. The staff are all very friendly, the rooms are comfortable with a mini fridge, great shower, spacious room for clothes and the beds are comfy. The breakfast is a nice mix, scrambled eggs, lots of breads, three different types of croissants, fresh fruits, yogurts, muffins, nut and fruit mixes. Basically your not short for choice unless your looking for a full English (which we weren't.) We also hired bikes which is €10 euro each a day which is a steal from 7am till 7pm. We went to Sirmione on them 6km took 45 mins great day out. Oh and the location is great litterly turn right out of hotel, walk 30 metres and your on the main Street which is lovely. If I am going to mention negatives they would be minimal, plug sockets (unplug TV or charge in bathroom) not that bad and theres no iron.. but they do have a service for that. Would I use...
