We have been coming to Firenze for the last 25 years and spent a lot of time at the Four Seasons in Firenze. We stay in an apartment close by, but come to the hotel quite often during the July & August time period. We come to the pool, the gym, the restaurants, on a regular basis. If you haven't been there, make a point to stay as it is a spectacular property. The grounds are amazing and the history of hotel goes back to the late 1400's when it was the elegant Palazzo Gherardesca. It became a Four Seasons in 2008 and I can assure you they have preserved all the charm of the Renaissance. It has such obvious beauty but we continue to go back for the wonderful relationships we have forged over the years. It starts with Pasquale Mazza who is just a wonderful human being who has become a dear friend. Pasquale does everything with the "anything is possible" mindset and does it with pleasure. I cannot tell you how much he means to our family! Bravo dear friend and well done once again. Barbara & the concierge team go way above the call of duty. Barbara does everything so effortlessly and always with a smile! She makes sure every request will be taken care so you have no worries. The entire concierge team is amazing!! The Spa team is another extension of excellence. Lucia, you made our time so special as you have done for so many years...I just feel thank you is not enough but Grazie di Coure! Kristina and the entire Spa team are so wonderful to interact with all summer, I want to thank you for everything. The team at the pool...WOW! Another great summer at the piscina! Danielle and his team really did such a wonderful job each day we spent at the pool, I cannot say enough how you made our relaxing time so special. Leon, was a champion and so professional! You really treated my family so well all summer long. Mateo and Dimitri always made sure my daughters had what they needed so I thank you as well. Mario is always so calm and cool every time we are dinning at Al Fresco which is most every day! Thank you my friend Mario. You are the best! The new fish restaurant is superb on the other side of the property and want to thank Antonello and his team for making things special each time we were with you. The bottom line is that the Four Seasons Firenze makes you feel like you are with family and they do it at the highest level! This wonderful paradise is a must stay if you are visiting Florence! Until we see you again. Bravo/Brava ben fatto!! The...
Read moreThis hotel is the best FS property I've stayed at which is really faint praise. The palazzo is dizzyingly beautiful with frescos, marble and luxe furnishings. With the Christmas decoration, it almost seemed overcrowded with its decor. The grounds are stunning even in winter. The hotel is a little away from the city center which means a 10-15 minute walk, we didn't mind.
We had a problem with our Gallery Suite; it's was under the hotel's main heating/AC unit (beware for the Granducato Gallery Suite) which presented a constant engine-like hum. Also, all Gallery Suites are on the first floor on the road, which while not busy, makes for mediocre views and occasional traffic noise (the hotel entrance is right below). We requested to move and they upgraded us to a Renaissance Suite which was really beautiful, quiet and had an outrageously large bathroom. Well-played by the front desk staff, who were great. However, this room was free for only three of the four nights so they further upgraded us to the Garden Suite which was a free-standing villa in more of a California garden decor. Not as Italian or our preferred style for this kind of trip but still lovely and private. I think it would be an amazing in room in summer with a private pool and garden for sunning. This suite was off in the Villa part of the hotel which is quieter but not as historically Italian in style. I prefer the main building.
The food was mostly good, particularly room service. Il Palagio was disappointing though; small portions, over-the-top waiters and not very tasty or interesting food. Breakfast was a bit bland.
The spa is nice but my massage wasn't very strong. The gym facilities are great.
FS personnel are well-trained but very corporate and not always very genuine. It lends a somewhat robotic feel to the whole experience. That's why I never seem to be able to get to five stars with my FS reviews. Still, this place is beautiful, I would return and they handled our disappointment with our original room and its...
Read moreFour Seasons Florence is a hotel resort made up of two Renaissance buildings: the 15th century “Palazzo Della Gherardesca” and “La Villa”, a former convent of the 16th century. Separating the two properties are the majestic 11-acre Gherardesca gardens, the largest private park in the city, which has existed since the 15th century. Following the guidelines of the Superintendent for Artistic Historical Patrimony, Four Seasons has restored the garden to its 19th century Romantic-style – an artistic connection of paths and lawns together with stunning pools.
More than a hotel, Four Seasons Florence is a contemporary museum with its magnificent pieces of artwork and unique designs spread across 116 rooms and suites. Found in the Palazzo Della Gherardesca, the Royal Suite is one of the greatest suites in the world, and will make you feel like a noble Florentine in ancient times. The 233 square meter suite features vaulted ceilings, beautiful frescoes, and an original “Capodimonte Maioliche” ceramic floor by Ignazio Chiaiese. The Royal Suite can be even be connected with the smaller Renaissance and Gallery Suites to become a three-bedroom residence.
‘Il Palagio’ is the Michelin Starred restaurant within the hotel which prepares a mix of Tuscan and Italian dishes in spectacularly elegant surroundings. For a truly romantic experience, one can even dine on the Altana Terrace on the hotel’s roof, offering a magnificent 360-degree view over Florence.
Four Season’s cocktail bar Atrium Bar occupies a vast sun-lit and decorative space near the hotel lobby. Bar manager Edoardo Sandri serve both inventive signature and traditional classic cocktails at Atrium Bar. In the evenings, live piano music provides a relaxing atmosphere that extends outdoors onto the terraces during the warmer seasons.
