Caffè Michelangelo — Restaurant in Florence

Excellent coffee, and beautiful spinach and ham panino, and very nice pastry. Became my go to for breakfast while I was in Firenze for a week. Very pleasant staff. Mostly locals, just my type of thing. Contrary to what one of the other reviewers said, it's too far off the beaten track to be a 'tourist trap'. I never spent more than about 6 or 7 euros here in total for a doppio cappuccino, panino and a sweet pastry, and that was at a table. However, I was respectful and spoke as much Italian as I could. Parlare Italiano, e riceverai una grande ospitalità. Forse l'americano ha dimenticato le...

Pessimo locale. Personale scortese e stoviglie sporche. Ho chiesto di poter avere un bicchier d’acqua e, in un primo momento, mi è stato servito da un “barman” al costo modico di 20 centesimi. Poi, notando che il bicchiere era sporco, ho chiesto che esso potesse essere sostituito. Un altro ragazzo, scettico e dopo una lunga “disamina” dei fatti, mi ha detto che non era sporco, che si trattava solamente dei graffi dovuti all’usura dei bicchieri nel tempo. Strano... non sapevo che l’usura determinasse macchie scure ed appiccicose! Per giunta, l’altro bicchiere d’acqua che ho richiesto non mi è stato offerto (mi pareva il minimo), ma me l’hanno fatto pagare più di prima. Infatti, mi sono stati chiesti 40 centesimi. Io, titubante, ho provato a domandare il perché di questo “rialzo” di prezzo. Mi è stato risposto che l’acqua del rubinetto costa 20 centesimi a bicchiere (credevo che essa fosse gratis...), mentre quella della bottiglia 40 centesimi. Strano, perché anche il bicchiere precedente era sempre stato riempito con l’acqua della bottiglia! Non ho nemmeno obiettato... non avevo parole adeguate per tale scortesia! Sono davvero infuriato. Sconsiglio a tutti di andarci. Esperienza da non ripetere!

P.S. Tengo a precisare il fatto che l'ubicazione del bar è nel centro storico di Firenze. Non sarebbe male se il personale ci sapesse fare. Tuttavia, nella prima volta che ci sono stato qualche mese fa, chiesi una vivanda al ristoratore, che si comportò in maniera molto carina con me. Da ciò ne deduco che non tutto il personale è uguale e comprendo quanto mai bene quanto sia importante saper stare al pubblico. Mi dispiace di aver scritto questa recensione. Non l'avrei nemmeno scritta se si fossero almeno comportati...

Their coffee is well balanced, I took Macchiato and was for me between a classic macchiato and cortado. My partner took double espresso, he liked it as well. The beans are not too soury.

My partner took their Mozzarella and tomato sandwich and I took the multigrain pistachio croissant, I highly highly recommend it! It was the first time I found this combination in Florence (multigrain and pistachio) it was well balanced and didn’t give me a sugar rash.

For all of that; 8 euros which was fair enough for the portions and the quality. I’d recommend it if you are near...
