This is such a lovely hotel. They pay attention to detail and ensure you have a wonderful stay. I stayed at their sister property, Hotel Artemide in Rome, which was great as well. Hotel Spadai is an overall nicer hotel. Hotel Quarters and Room: The room was very nice, literally just as pictured and the bathroom was just as nice. There is a rain shower and the water pressure and the temperature were perfect. My room had a nice view and I loved the fact that I could open my window and let the fresh, cold air in. During an afternoon nap, we left the window open and fell asleep to the noise of the town square. At night, it is very noisy but you don’t hear anything with the windows closed. The observatory is a nice touch and you get a great view of the city. Food: The breakfast was on another level and it is not your typical continental breakfast. Yes, they have all the things Americans love such as eggs, toast, coffee, etc. However, they have things that are not usually included in the “free” breakfast options. Make sure to have some of the orange juice, simply divine. The welcome drink is a nice touch and they have a happy hour with yummy treats. You just buy a drink and the appetizers are included. I think that’s a win win! Location: We literally walked everywhere. The only time we took a taxi was when we were running late to the train station and there was a drizzle and we didn’t want to risk being late. The Duomo is immediately to your left and the Accademia is 5 minutes away. The only spot that was a little walk was Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens but it really wasn’t that bad. When you’re walking with all of the scenery, the walk feels very quick! The city center of Florence is not that big so you really can walk everywhere. Customer Service: They go above and beyond to make you happy. They don’t do it and then ask for a TripAdvisor review or seem fake. Everyone there is genuinely happy and helpful. It was my husband’s birthday and they made him feel extra special especially at breakfast. Anything we needed, they were quick to help to ensure we were happy. Overall: I’m super picky about my hotels and this is a really nice one. The price point may not be in everyone’s budget but I found the prices reasonable especially for the quality of service that we received. Thank you for making our stay in Florence...
Read moreThis was the review from our stay at this hotel from June 24-29. We had booked a Junior suite and we were disappointed with the room and the amenities.
We had booked this suite in Jan and we were probably assigned the worst of the rooms available. Spadai advertises on their website that the Junior suite has “ Jacuzzi” but our suite did not have it. When I inquired about the same with the front desk, I was told that not all suites have them. This is a classic case of false advertising where they mention on their website that all Junior suites have this amenity while in reality only certain suites do but they charge us the same room rate as other guest who has the Junior suite with Jacuzzi. This is not fair.
We also did not like the low wooden ceiling as it felt claustrophobic and felt like we’re living in an attic.
The major issue with the hotel staff was they did not notify us or were honest regarding the ceiling and lack of jacuzzi at the time of check in. I felt like they were not being transparent about these gaps/ missing amenities upfront.
The housekeeping was also subpar as they kept missing replenishing the snack and minibar which is complimentary.
The soundproofing of the rooms is also inadequate as we heard loud noises in the room from outside which turned out to from AC units but we also heard conversations from the room next to us.
The breakfast options and management was good along with the Hotel location.
The front desk staff was helpful but we did have trouble with the Taxi booking on our departure where the hotel staff promised us they will take care of the taxi the day prior to departure for us to the train station but could not locate the taxi/ reserve it on time on the day of the departure forcing us to walk to the train station with our luggage. This was quite a chore considering we had 10 year old child who had to drag his own luggage about 1.5 km to the train station.
So we had high expectations for this hotel based on the reviews but based on the above gaps in room, lack of honesty on the missing amenities at the time of check in and the poor soundproofing of the room we were...
Read moreThis is a very trendy, modern boutique hotel in Florence. I stayed here with my husband for 3 nights in January and we both found it to be incredibly convenient. From the outside the place looks small but the rooms are so big, we had a junior suite and there was a lounge room, massive bathroom and huge bedroom as well. The tv had wifi and we were able to watch YouTube in our down time. The hotel staff was so kind and attentive and the room service was also very good I had the mushroom risotto one afternoon and it was amazing. The other cool thing is they have a free mini bar that gets stocked everyday so two free bottles of water and other drinks/snacks each day which is amazing because I have been to more expensive hotels that give no water ! Not even on the first day. The complimentary buffet breakfast was very nice with a lot of options, for me personally the options was limited as I prefer hot savoury foods rather than cold meats or sweets. For sweet tooths they will be in heaven as there are a lot of cakes and pastries laid out everyday. One improvement could have been in the warm foods because we visited in jan which is the coldest month so some warm hearty food would have been amazing. The room service was really great, they cleaned up the room really nicely for us everyday but it was a little slow. One occasion we were out from morning to late afternoon but they hadn’t reached our room yet so we awkwardly sat in the hotel lounge for a while until they managed to get to it so we wouldn’t get in the way of the staff. My huband and I also tried out they’re private spa and it was very lovely.
Overall, if you are looking for a nice place to stay in Florence and not sure where, I think that you cannot go wrong with this place. If I was to ever visit Florence again I would probably select this hotel again because I know...
