We picked Corvara as a location having read a very interesting article in the Irish Times Travel section. It's a little off of the traditional track, at least for us, located in the Italian Sud Tirol, just over the border from Austria. Chalet La Flu we found on Booking.com and rented a 2-3 bed studio for the week. ||OMG, what a location. The apartment itself was simple but beautifully appointed, providing all that we needed. It goes without saying that it was spotlessly clean and the staff were most helpful. The breakfast rolls delivered to our door every morning we're a very nice touch. It's located just above the beautiful village of Corvara with spectacular views of the mountains and surrounding valleys. ||If you are into hiking and/or mountain biking (we were) there are numerous tracks and paths to explore suiting all abilities. Take one of the cable cars one way (€7-12 pp depending on the route) and spend the day trekking from 'hut' to 'hut', stopping off the sample the excellent food on offer. We can vouch for Bioch and Pralongia (take cable car Col Alto, running very close to the apartment), Piz Boe and Crep de Munt (cable car Boe) and Jimmy (Plans-Frara). Note that the owners of Chalet La Flu run their own hut, Planfisti which can be reached via the Boe cable car. Simple and extremely rustic, this place is a great stop off, albeit some way down the other side of the mountain (which we decided to climb back up!)||If you have a car, driving over the Gardena Pass is a must. Watch out for the nutters on motorbikes though. ||All in all we cannot speak highly enough of the accommodation, the village and the surrounding facilities. We...
Read moreWe stayed in the Sassongher apartment for our fall trip. It was a very clean and updated apartment with a nice kitchen and bathrooms. The deck provided great view of town and the mountains. The heated floors in the bathrooms were a nice treat. We ordered bread for breakfast each morning and it was delivered to our door. The owners were very helpful and spoke good English. They also will do a load of laundry for 5 euros. The walk up the hill to the property is steep but not long. Convenient to market and restaurants. Wifi was good although it was turned off overnight. They do not provide toilet paper or bath soap so plan on buying that! Great...
Read moreWe had a wonderful few days here. The chalet was perfect - very clean, well furnished and comfortingly warm (the underfloor heating in the shower room was much appreciated!) Ideally placed for seeing the area and you can walk from the door up into the amazing mountains. We loved the view from the window/terrace - the ever-changing light and clouds were wonderful to watch.||Jlenia was very friendly and helpful and also spoke...
