We have returned from a lovely stay at hotel villa fraulo. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, we were made to feel welcome and taken to our room which was a lovely touch. We were upgraded to the suite on arrival which was absolutely stunning, overlooking the amalfi coast! The hotel staff are lovely and very helpful. The restaurant staff and service were always great. Especially a waitress at breakfast who always had a smile on her face, very bubbly and happy. Nothing was ever too much trouble! |The hotel had an infinity pool which was beautiful, over looking the amalfi coast. It was never over crowded. ||The hotel location was perfect, with restaurants and little shops a short walk away. There are some of the best restaurants in Ravello! It is also located a stones throw away from villa rufulo gardens which were stunning. |Ravello was my favourite town, it is away from all the hustle and bustle. We hired a scooter for 4 days which is a must if you stay at ravello because if you want to explore the coast you’ll need to travel. The scooter was so much fun and we explored the towns on the amalfi coast from sorrento to maiori over the duration of our stay. There was a shuttle service running from ravello to amalfi but we didn’t use this. If hiring a scooter be mindful of parking fees. I think it was around €4 an hour at amalfi. There is always a ticket station around somewhere so try and find it and put a parking ticket on because we got a parking fine which was an additional €30. You have to pay to park your car/bike at the hotel which is an additional €20 euro per day, this is something I feel the hotel could improve on as paying guests this should be included without an additional charge. ||We caught a ferry from amalfi to capri and spent the day there, unfortunately we couldn’t visit the blue grotto as the sea level was too high inside the cave. The ferry from amalfi was around €90 for both of us returned. The blue grotto trip would have been an additional cost at the capri ticket station. An ice cream at capri cost €24!||The amalfi coast is not cheap, it all adds up. Eating out for two roughly cost around €60 for a main meal and drinks for two. We stayed bed and breakfast but we wouldn’t change this as we were able to explore different restaurants along the amalfi coast. |The rooms were clean and cleaned daily, thank you cleaning staff. The bed was huge and very comfortable! The room had a lovely jacuzzi bath. I am so happy we chose to stay at this hotel, I was sad to leave. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. We hope to return in the near future. Thank you everyone at hotel villa fraulo for a...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE. I truly regret that I have to write this review. The hotel was beautiful and perfectly located. Besides that, the food at the restaurant was subpar and the rooms lacked adequate AC while it was one of the hottest weeks in Italy. But the biggest issue was the service. We had a HORRIBLE experience and were completely disrespected by the hotel’s CEO (as seen below).
When we arrived to the hotel we had a wedding to attend that evening. We asked if there were irons in the rooms as we needed to iron dresses. They told us irons are not allowed in the rooms but they offered to press our dresses to which we said yes thank you and offered a generous tip to the women who did it for us as we assumed it was complimentary and wanted to pay these women for their time. When we checked out of the hotel, we saw a €50 charge for pressing (3 dresses). We kindly asked if this could be refunded as we weren’t made aware that we would be charged for this. The staff at the hotel said they couldn’t refund and asked us to email later.
We then send a very nice email asking if we could be refunded. Given irons are banned from the rooms we felt it was reasonable to assume that pressing service was complimentary, especially given the price wasn’t disclosed beforehand.
The below is the email reply from the CEO of the hotel. We were absolutely shocked by this offensive, threatening language and the blatant disrespect. Out of principle alone we could unfortunately never recommend that anyone visit this hotel. We hope to receive an apology from the hotel. Certainly not 4 star quality service. Please spend your money elsewhere.
Given I can’t post screenshots of the email this is the exact word for word response we received:
Dear Sir, but do you really believe that someone can iron your clothes for free? But perhaps he thinks he has found some servants?
It is not for the 50 euros that they are nothing, but it is precisely the concept that is unbearable and unacceptable.
Go ahead and do your reviews and call your credit company, then I'll do my steps, based on what you, legally, or otherwise written and based on what your company will do.

Read moreWe loved this hotel! It was my 3rd time staying in Ravello. Previously, we had stayed in an Air BnB and a different hotel back in 2007 before this villa converted to a hotel. By far, Villa Fraulo is my favorite location and I cannot wait to return!! We were a party of 3 staying in the month of July and booked the deluxe room with private terrace.. It was perfect!! The terrace overlooking the ocean was spacious and had enough seating for 10 people!! The bathroom was beautiful with a large tub and separate shower. We loved swimming in the pool and lounging on the patio. The best parts about this hotel, aside from the room, amenities, and view, are the location, breakfast, and friendly staff. The location cannot be beat. You are literally next to Villa Rufolo with a bus stop across the street so you can easily explore the entire coast. This was a perfect base for us. We took a sunset boat cruise and a ferry to Capri. Very easy to do with the bus stop right there. Second, the breakfast! 😍 Every morning had something new. It wasn't just a simple breakfast - it was a full brunch by American standards with fresh squeezed juices and all kinds of savory dishes. We loved eating on the patio that overlooked the ocean. Also, the staff were amazing and super friendly. We never had a bad experience here. And we absolutely loved having breakfast with the kitties. For reviews that criticize the villa for having cats, those people do not understand the city and culture of Ravello. The town embraces and takes care of their stray cats all over the city. That is my favorite part and why I keep coming back to Ravello. The people are genuinely very caring and respect their furry friends. Villa Fraulo has everything you are wanting in an Amalfi Coast experience - convenient location, fabulous and fulfilling breakfast, the option to have a beautiful private balcony, refreshing pool, friendly staff, adorable cats - I can't imagine...
