Arrived to be given a room next to the lift. Told no other rooms where available so I paid for an upgrade to a suite, although it later transpired they where still selling rooms through internet channels. Air conditioning repeatedly cut out and couldn't cool the suite by more than a couple of degrees from 30 degrees. Later told it was a problem with circa 10 rooms, then told it was a problem across the hotel. In house maintenance couldn't fix and a specialist engineer needed to be brought in at some later point
Front of house staff were polite, be it I felt like they were trying to manage the customer and had no real idea of when the problem would be fixed
As a positive when I pressed hard for a resolution after 24 hours they agreed to us checking out early and refunding the monies paid to upgrade to a suite, and logging a request with Expedia ( who we booked with) to refund the 4 remaining days of the stay. However, this only happened because I gave the hotel the option of giving us another room with guaranteed working air conditioning or checking us out and refunding monies for days not stayed (but paid for in advance)
And for absolute clarity my personal opinion is that the fundamental problem is with how the hotel is run (maintenance budgets / service contracts for air conditioning) and not the staff. It seems like the hotel can sometimes have major air conditioning problems for some rooms...

We always appreciate extra attention to the toddler and the large room and toilet with bathtub were relaxing. We liked the breakfast at hotel which costs around 13.50€/person.
