My husband and I enjoyed our 2 night stay at Palazzo Ravizza very much. We arrived in Siena, our first Tuscan stop, at the train station around 4 pm. The hotel is not walkable from the station and calling an Uber wasn’t as simple as other cities but via the Uber app, a taxi did come. By car, the hotel was a short ride on a busy road, then through one of the old gates where it turned into windy, narrow streets. The hotel itself is very pretty and has the look and feel of an old house with bookcases everywhere. I’d love to know the history, it was almost certainly a house and even had what looked like family portraits everywhere. Check in was quick and easy. We were on the second floor with a beautiful view of the garden. If we’d had more time it would have been a lovely spot for a glass of wine. We did carry our breakfast out there one morning and my husband enjoyed several cups of coffee in the early peaceful morning. The center of town is a short walk down a hill then you’re into the windy, historic streets we came for. We had a king bed that was SO comfortable. Perfectly firm. Opening the windows in the night was really nice even if the birds were loud. The bathroom was clean, nice, and comfortable for the two of us. Breakfast was great and typical with some added savory pastries. A ham and cheese and a spinach which was delicious. It was no problem to get a glass of ice for my Diet Coke - I always buy one in town the evening before. 5 STARS and I’d love to stay here again!...
Read moreStayed for 2 nights in early July of 2021. We stayed in the room with a balcony - but what we hadn't bargained for was the exceptional nature of the room itself. It was tremendously grand in a manner appropriate to the age of the building, with an incredibly high decorated ceiling and a huge entrance door - real wow factor.
I would almost say the balcony itself in the room wasn't worth it as the view from the hotel garden is just as good, if not better depending on the season, as the leaves in the tree may block your view from the balcony. It's the room itself that makes it special.
Even though the balcony room was in the period style, all the expected mod cons were present (aircon, fully equipped en-suite bathroom, TV etc).
Service from the hotel representatives was excellent, although breakfast proved a bit challenging one morning as it was being run by a single staff member - this was forgivable during current issues relating to Covid where everything must be table service - they would normally run a buffet. The public areas of the hotel are well furnished, with an interesting library of books available should they be of interest.
Hotel location within Siena was perfect for our needs. Everything in the centre is within an easy walk, and yet the hotel is far enough from the hotspots so that you don't step out of the front door straight into a tourist melee.
We very much enjoyed our stay and we'll be back if we pass through...

We were so happy to visit Sienna, and at first glance, we felt lucky to book a nice hotel so near the center, that had a car park included. Warning: do not stay here when you have a car! From the first moment we arrived, the front desk staff was so extremely rude, just because we came by car. We were ready to comply with any rule or regulation they myight have, but it didn't matter. We were talked down to like we just did something horrible. Even if we did not say anything, the fact that we came by car and wanted to use their car park was enough to be talked to in the rudest, passive aggressive way. possible. If we want to know how to reach the car park we were scolded for not knowing the Sienna city lay out, like we lived their. If we wanted to leave the carpark, we were scolded for not giving notice at the exact second the car would be in motion. When we came back we were scolded for not informing that we were back, even though they saw we were. No matter what we did, they seemed hell bent on scolding us. We know the car situation in Sierra is difficult, but that doesn't mean you should be rude to paying guests. The room was great. The view was great, but this horrible, extremely strange interaction with the front desk made us regret that we...
