Hotel Le Muse — Hotel in Syracuse

Do not, I repeat, do not pay the city tax in cash to Barbara. She is at the front desk and when we arrived she asked for us to pay right away the city tax (6 euros) in cash only for our two night stay. When we checked out there was no information about this transaction. The other lady at the front desk called Barbara and she denied to have received it!!! I sincerely hope the owner of this hotel read this and pay more attention to Barbara’s behavior towards their customers. ||The reception is not on sight from the entrance, which is confusing. We had to park a few blocks away since they don't have parking on site. The hotel is very noisy at night. We heard some other clients complaining about the noise downstairs on Friday and Saturday night as well. The lady in charge of the breakfast room was nice and polite. The hotel was well located, but other than that it is not...

I read some glowing reviews...I was shocked when I got there. The description sounds like a grand palazzo converted into a fabulous hotel. There is a small reception area. There is a breakfast room. Other than that its a stairway...or elevator....with a bunch of rooms off it with absolutely no personality. The room itself is barebones with little lighting. I had to open the shutters and curtains (although it was in the 90s and so understand why they want them shut) but it I needed the light. Rooms to me were a bit depressing. Its fine for a budget hotel but don't expect much beyond that. As for location....its a great location. I prefer staying right outside Ortigia for the parking alone. They weren't much help letting you know where to park...I found a lot a few blocks away where I left the car...

The breakfast was a bit poor. The staff is .. no sure, one person attended to us phenomenally but another was a bit unfriendly and very busy with his phone. In the morning, very early when we wanted to check-out, we were not allowed to pay the 3 euros fees with the credit card and we waited more than 15 minutes for the return of a 20 euros ticket. I didn't think it was right, because we were in a hurry and we had an appointment at another place, we were late to. Otherwise, the hotel is fine, basic, clean and the location is good. 5 minutes from the most...
