This could be a little long, because I want to recognize specific staff members, so for folks reading for information on the hotel (without me going on about specifics!)|Location: For a 5* beach vacation in Taormina, this is the place to go. A beautiful private beach with more sunbeds than guests, competent and helpful lifeguard staff, table service from the bar and shower facilities in the pool area should you wish to avail. It’s a shingle beach but fairly fine, so no problem to walk on and lovely to swim at|Food: Incredible. Both restaurants are spectacular, worth every penny|Rooms: gorgeous. We took to returning to our room from the beach after lunch most days to finish the day on our balcony, it was that nice!|Service: out of this world. The staff were so efficient and thoughtful, but it didn’t feel like they were “always watching”, if that makes sense. I’ve not experienced such high quality service in such a warm and assured way before - nothing we asked for was an imposition, and most of the time we didn’t even have to ask, the staff offered first!|Value: This depends on whether you read “value” as “I didn’t spend much and felt like I got a lot” or “I got everything I paid for and more besides”. Mazzaro Sea Palace is the latter. The cost is as expected for a 5* hotel, but we received a 6* experience in my opinion, which is huge value for money I feel. ||Okay, stop reading here if you just wanted the lowdown on the hotel to make a decision, you have everything you need for that!).||I’m aware that often the leaders that decide on company culture etc will read these types of reviews. In case that’s happening now, I want to get specific on what was especially good in the service we received: |- Weeks before we arrived, Elisabetta in guest relations reached out to us to provide information on what we could book in advance. When I responded, Gerardo and Gioacchino from the concierge team arranged multiple bookings for restaurants, excursions and transfers, all before we had left home. I have not encountered this type of proactivity in a guest relations team before and it really sets this hotel apart in terms of service|- Elisabetta and Karina taking the time to introduce themselves at our first breakfast was a lovely way to break the ice and make it clear who and where we could go with questions or requests. Having a WhatsApp account for the concierge team was a great touch, and I really appreciated the confirmations and directions shared in this way|- the concierge team (Gioacchino and Karina looked after us but the whole team is excellent) continued to arrange anything we needed during our stay and made excellent recommendations for restaurants and other things to do|- the front desk team was wonderful, so happy to help with anything we needed (Federica sticks out in my mind, but honestly anyone we spoke with was so very helpful and fun to talk to, the entire team is excellent)|-The entire restaurant, bar and lifeguard team were so helpful and pleasant to deal with, we really did feel so well looked after our entire stay. I’ve definitely forgotten some folks but Francisco, Elena, Flora, Jessica, Nino, Giovanni and Senuri at the restaurant, Nicolas at the bar and Giovanni on the lifeguard team stick out in my mind as especially helpful and pleasant to talk to - but I’ve definitely forgotten some other folks that helped us in the restaurant or on the beach. They all made us feel so welcome and were so endlessly helpful and fun, honestly they made the vacation what it was|- The housekeeping team are the most efficient, thorough and pleasant team ever. We were floored at the detailed approach they took with the room, and they were all so lovely to speak to any time we saw each other|-Maintenance helped us with our safe (we’re super dumb) and were so kind and efficient in fixing what we’d done! Again, a job like maintenance wouldn’t strike you as a customer service role, but this team treated it like one|The team is incredibly talented and I hope that the hotel continues to provide an atmosphere and culture to retain and grow this team. |A flawless...
Read morewe booked mazzaro sea palace with high hopes and came away with the best Italy beach experience we could imagine. I’ll try to be as detailed oriented as possible- from start to finish literally not a single staff member at mazzaro sea palace from the door man who first greeted us down to the omelette station chef and the housekeepers as well all expressed an overwhelmingly polite, caring , genuinely happy to accommodate us persona. Rosario checked us in , he was fantastic as we arrived early before our check in time so he gave us a courtesy room (basically a full room) to use , to shower , freshen up , rest and have some privacy until our full set up was ready. I speak some Italian but rest assure every worker on site speaks fluent English. the property is immaculate, we’ve stayed at beach resorts before , they can appear great in a pic online and then you get their and smell mildew,or find things to be run down and or dirty. mazzaro does everything 10 out of 10 as far as property up keep goes. the air conditioning was excellent and cold all the time. our room was always well kept and we needed a few things from Rosario (ironing board, ice for the room ) which we got right away. Wi fi worked great no issues at all in that category what so ever. the hotel provides you with several free waters upon arrival and a great little espresso maker with pods in room. they also conveniently stock full to and from cable car tickets for $20 euro total which is only a three minute walk from the hotel to than use to get to the town city center. Breakfast was the best we’ve had in all of north and pith Italy . they have all the traditional European options , including granita in multiple flavors , raw honey comb from local honey farmers, a wide assortment of pastries and even really good arancini. expect a 5 star breakfast that included custom omelette , hot fresh meats and vegetables along with fresh daily local fruit choices.|the beach at mazzaro is just impressive , your right on the beach with your own alcove to go right from a couple of feet from your sun bed to crystal clear clean water. a side note you definitely need to bring water shoes for both grip and to get in and out , the temperature was only 85F or so but the rocks get scorching hot and also slippery when getting into the water. nobody harasses you through your day to buy massages or upgrade services so if you seek peace and quiet you certainly will have it ! ordering food , drinks or snacks on the beach is super convenient as you have your own dedicated buzzer on your umbrella with sun beds also included at no extra charge. |their is no need to get up at 5am to rush down to grab chairs before they are all gone , mazzaro has more than enough for all guests and once you have a set up it’s yours for the full day. we dined at 1 of the 2 restaurants on the property , the armonia and had probably the best basil pesto pasta in all the multiple trips we’ve made to Italy. we highly recommend it. we would also like to thank the desk staff , Alessia liouta went above and beyond in arranging us car service to and from diners in town and helping us navigate around the town with sites to see. one thing to be fair to say is we are very generous tippers and every single worker their ( shout out to nino in food service one of the many wonderful waiters we had ) all work so hard with a smile and warm greeting all the time they deserve to be tipped . you will be asked upon check out to give an extra tip fee for your stay which is optional but again in our case we tipped every single staff worker because we felt the want to as the service was truly second to none. we wil definitely be back to mazzaro , it was gorgeous and breathtaking , seeing the sunrise and sunset from our balcony every...
Read moreMy husband and I just stayed here for 5 days and it was an amazing 5 days (August 30th-September 3rd). Very easy to setup transportation via the hotel when arriving and departing (not cheap but reliable and worth it in my opinion). It cost 150 euro for each trip. However, it is my understanding that a taxi is not much more cost effective. We preferred reliable and to guarantee we had a ride at a certain time when we arrived and departed. We arrived early in the morning so our room was not ready, however, they have private guest rooms downstairs where you can shower, change, etc. while you wait for your room to be ready. LOVED THIS! We also had a later flight the day we departed but had to check out by noon. After checkout, we went walked around and did some final shopping. When we returned to the hotel, they pulled our bags into one of the private rooms so we could freshen up and get changed before heading to the airport. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel - gorgeous view and food was great! We spent time on the beach - chairs are first come first serve - the beach workers were nice. There is a call button on each umbrella that you can use to call for someone to take your food or drink order. Another nice option! They provide you with a beach bag in your room if you forgot one. The hotel beachfront is not open to the public but borders a small section of beach that is public. You just might see someone famous during your visit - we did : ) One of the best parts of this resort is the proximity to the funicular (cable car) it is a two minute walk from the hotel. You have to buy a ticket each day you if you want to use the cable cars to go into the town. $9 per person for both ways (up and down). It takes you up the hillside and you arrive in the heart of Taormina - shopping, restaurants, etc. THE CUTEST TOWN. Loved the town, the vibe, just everything. We also attended a concert at the old Greek Ampitheatre - that was amazing - you can walk to it if you are in the main part of the city (where the funicular drops you off at the top). Everyone was incredibly nice at the hotel. Very accommodating and always helpful if you have questions or needed something. Our room was on the first floor, which is also where the wellness and fitness centers are. We did not use the wellness center but we did frequent the fitness center. It is very small but you can get a decent workout in - two treadmills, an elliptical, two bikes. There were a decent amount of weight options in terms of dumbbells. Also some kettle bells and resistance bands. No weight machines - just a squat rack type of thing with a bench. They provide water and cold towels in the refrigerator. There were also some snacks and fruit in the gym as well. The place is extremely clean. The rooms were gorgeous! We had a balcony room and the view is just BREATHTAKING. You have a small bistro table/chairs along with two lounge chairs on the balcony. When I had enough of the sun, I laid on our balcony and read a book/relaxed. I even took a nap out there one afternoon. The rooms are spacious, the bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great! There isn’t an ironing board/iron in the room but they will bring one to your room if you need it. They do a really nice evening turn down service. Room is clean and organized when you return to it for the evening. Overall, 10/10. We had an amazing time and the place is just beautiful. We will stay again! Book it - you will...
