The Greek Theatre at Taormina offers an unparalleled experience that transcends time and expectations. My recent visit, where I had the privilege of watching Robert Plant and Saving Grace with Suzi Dian, was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I stepped into this ancient amphitheatre, I was enveloped by an atmosphere that echoed with centuries of history and artistic resonance. First and foremost, the sound quality was nothing short of phenomenal. The acoustics of this ancient venue are a testament to the architectural genius of the past. Every note from the performers reverberated through the air with remarkable clarity and depth, allowing the music to transport the audience into a realm of pure auditory bliss. It's a testament to the enduring design of the Greek Theatre that such sonic perfection has been maintained over millennia.
The setting itself is awe-inspiring. Nestled amidst the classic Sicilian beauty of Taormina, the theatre provides breathtaking panoramic views of both the sea and the majesty of Mount Etna. As the sun set and the stars emerged, the ambience became truly magical. The juxtaposition of ancient stone architecture against the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea and the iconic silhouette of Mount Etna is an image etched in my memory, one that I will carry with me until my last breath. It's a unique blend of nature's grandeur and human ingenuity that makes the Greek Theatre at Taormina an unrivalled venue.
I can't help but marvel at the enduring legacy of this amphitheatre. For millennia, it has stood as a testament to the enduring appeal of theatre and music, welcoming countless generations to partake in the joy of artistic expression. Its longevity is a tribute to the timeless nature of art itself, and I fervently hope that it continues to host concerts and plays for many more generations to come. In conclusion, my experience at the Greek Theatre in Taormina was truly remarkable. The combination of outstanding sound quality, a breathtaking setting, and the historical significance of the venue left an indelible mark on my soul. It is, without a doubt, one of the world's most extraordinary locations for live performances, and I wholeheartedly encourage others to embrace the opportunity to witness its...

1st October - Bernstein Concert Gala
We bought tickets for the concert at the Ancient Theatre. Due to weather, it was moved to this venue (disappointed but it is what it is). However, we bought tickets for a night of Leonard Bernstein Music - the opening gala of the Taormina Opera Festival. We were expecting an orchestra that was to be conducted by Wynton Marsalis.
After 35 minutes of being stood in the foyer and no communication, the auditorium opened (late) and all there was to see was an ELECTRIC MINI GRAND PIANO, and two music stands. No orchestra, no Wynton Marsalis. It looked like a school recital.
No communication about any of this from the staff just an email address to complain to. We spent around £100 on tickets for this and left after a couple of numbers due to the massive disappointment. It feels like we have been scammed. No communication from the venue or promoter.
This is not to be reflected on the performers.
A lot of people left very early on in the concert and were complaining to staff that seemed incredibly disappointed and some were angry. And surprise surprise, the Opera Festival have deleted the web page that details this concert.
An absolute shambles from...
