Booked the apartment for the 2 of us for the week thinking it would just be slightly larger than a standard room, like a small one bedroom apt. It's almost the entire floor! Large space that sleeps 6 with a living area, but only one bathroom. Apartment has it's own terrace that's huge and overlooks Isola Bella, but is overlooked itself by balconies above - just fyi! Another post mentioned plumbing problems and smell. There is a noticeable odor when first entering the room but neither of us can quite place whether it's a plumbing problem or just the smell of old plaster walls infused with sea air. After a few minutes in the room it's no longer noticeable. Plus, we've had the windows open the whole time because the seabreeze is lovely! No restaurant on site. There's a breakfast room/balcony on the 2nd floor but only open 730am-10am. The hotel restaurant/pizzeria is across the street and down on the beach. Be aware there are 100+ steps down to the beach (and back up again). You can pay for secure parking but know that it is down the street a couple of blocks next to the post office. There is NO STREET PARKING...
Read moreWe stayed two nights at the hotel. ||Friendly staff welcomed us. It is quite tricky to find parking. The street in front of the hotel is busy. The whole city of Taormina was extremely crowded at the time we were there. ||The receptionist helped us up with the luggage. |The room was clean and spacious with a cute terrace and view over Isola Bella. ||The hotel is somewhat worn down, but most likely you are not going to spend a lot of time inside the room. ||The hotel offered a breakfast service which was served on our terrace every morning. This is recommended. ||The staff was friendly and made reservations to restaurants and suggested things to see/do. ||The beach is just a two minute walk from the hotel. The city of Taormina is up on the hill a 45 minute walk up / 20 minute down. ||As in other places with no pool, this was something we missed here. It really gets too hot at the beach and therefore it is nice to have a pool, but it is quite pricey in the area. ||That being said, We would...
Read moreIf only I could give half star it would be 3.5 - mainly because of the room terrace with a stunning view. Very clean and comfortable, AC, safe lock, a kettle with teas and even wine glasses and corkscrew for sitting out on the balcony with, which is a nice touch. Breakfast is included, some great selection of local cheeses and salami. Other things included lots of cakes and tarts which were notably dry and clearly been there every breakfast for the past week. One slice I took was even green on the bottom? Then the usuals like toast, crossiants and small selection of fruit which also was notably gone it's best shelf date. Other than that - the hotel is in a great location close to the beach, restaurants, cafes, little shops and the stairs to Taormina. The only thing that would make my experience better is free parking (€12.50 a night) and including use of beach area (€15 per person just to use a...
