Mango Resort Okinawa Chatan — Hotel in Chatan

Overall, I would not stay here again. I stayed here for 4 weeks, and I believe there are much nicer and cleaner places in Okinawa. If you are looking for a simple place and don’t mind cleaning, you may not mind it. Below I’ve shared some pros and cons:

Cons Property is NOT managed by Japanese or Okinawans, so the standard of cleanliness was a 2/10. When I arrived, I checked my bedding and there were stains (see photo)/hair on the mattress protectors, stains on the couch and hair on the shower mat. The property manager (Indian man) came within 30 minutes, and I had to let him know that I wanted both beds completely changed and that lint rolling the covers was not cleaning them. Because the place was non-refundable, I decided to make the best of it, so I didn’t use any of the items in the apartment (except the packaged slippers). Thankfully, I knew some people on the island, so they came over to help clean the entire place. They brought me sheets, pillows, comforter, cooking items, plates, cups and silverware. Parking Fee Trash bags are not provided once the trash fills up in your room. One flat pillow per bed. I had two twin beds. No Iron or hangers in closet. PLEASE DON’T STAY HERE This was the second worst hotel I have ever stayed at. My family originally planned to stay for six days, but after only an hour, we went to a different hotel. The room was filthy, the washing machines were out of order, the futon was very thin, so was the pillow, there was a big hole in the couch, and there was very little space to move around or even put down the futon. We paid over $800 for the room and they denied a refund when we didn’t even stay there more than an hour. Save yourself the time and spend a little more money and get a Hilton. I have never reviewed anything but I had to warn people in the future. The only reasons I give this place 2 stars and not 1 are the price and fantastic location. We reserved a room for 2 with the intention of cooking our own food some nights, and half of the appliances didn’t work—we needed replacements for the microwave and electric kettle, and the rice cooker worked much slower than normal. Although there was a washer and dryer in the room, there were no hangers or closet space for our clothes. Furthermore, when we registered a noise complaint with the hotel manager he blew us off, claiming it was noise coming from construction work outside when it was very clearly the room above us.
