Hotel Yamanami — Hotel in Fuefuki

Zero expectations when i booked and was blown away by the quality of the meals, the calming comfortable room and welcoming service. Roughly 2-3mins walk from Isawaonsen Station, with Aeon as neighbour, the location is very convenient. Room is bright, clean and thoughtfully decorated. In the morning, I can admire the mountain view through the bathroom glass window while brushing my teeth, not just from the couch. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, had a good rest after a long journey. Ladies onsen had 2 indoor pools one of which is a red wine onsen and the other a jacuzzi. The 3rd onsen is outdoor overlooking the greenery. Meals were deliciously prepared with simple local ingredients. I hope to visit again...

This is my second visit. First time we got a shared rest/party room. This time we got a larger private one because we had a larger group. We can bring snacks but no beverages. We had kaiseki lunch, which was great. I didn't pay, so don't know how much it is but I imagine it's not cheap. They switch the baths every once in awhile. Meaning, the women's bath becomes the men and vice versa. My wife and I agree the one with the teepee looking thing outside is better. I made the mistake of throwing the small towel into a basket looking thing in the changing room. Turns out we can keep them. I went back to grab it, luckily no other towels were in there. Visited Onsen only as it was one recommended by the visitor centre at the train station. (Visitor centre have a useful list of local onsens including prices). This was 1320 yen each. Great facilities and nice and quiet which was good for our first Onsen experience. 2 indoor baths (including red wine onsen which was unique) and 1 outdoor in nice garden setting. Would recommend especially if you are a first timer as it was quiet and good place to figure it all out. We went on a Sunday after lunch. Useful notes- take your shoes off and put in storage shelves before walking on tatami mats. Male and female bath separately. No tattoos or bathing suits. Very short walk...
