I have stayed at this hotel several times as I am a frequent transit visitor to Fukuoka. I have always found it reliable and at a decent price. The rooms aren't much as the whole establishment is old, but they are comfortable enough for a couple nights. While small, the shower and toilet have got hotel provided shampoo and soap. There's also internet access on every floor but it is unfortunately provided in the form of old LAN cables. If you want to use WiFi you have to go to floor 2, reception. That's an inconvenience and management should fix that.
The breakfast buffet is also provided and it is very good given the type of budget accommodation this hotel is. There don't seem to be limits on seconds as well. If one doesn't like the on site breakfast or beer machine, the hotel is in close proximity to many businesses and the pleasant Ohori Koen. Ohori Koen metro is not far away either.
My only gripe about this place is that the staff are too hung up on little rules. I have arrived early on different visits and the have not let check-in early. That theoretically is not a problem, but this place hasn't got queues of people or a frantically busy cleaning staff. I know that at least on one occasion, I could have been allowed into my room a little earlier. Rules for rules sake do not always make the best customer service.
All in all, this place is a good deal. It's old and could use a facelift, but one could do a lot worse, particularly as a...

Read moreI read many bad reviews about this hotel, but I have to be honest my stay was good. The staff was very nice, I asked for a non smoking room because I am asthmatic and I got a non smoking Japanese styled room. Ok, the hotel needs to be renewed because it looks very old, but my room was always clean and this is the most important. The room was as sized as the Japanese average standards, even though the bathroom was a little bit too small, I could barely move inside. The location is great, 100 mt walking distance from the subway station Ōhorikoen, and you can also find many restaurants {izakaya}, a convenience store {Lawson is next door, as well a 7/11 in front of the subway exit}, there is also a supermarket and the hotel is very close to the port, and to some attractions {Ōhori Park, Fukuoka Castle ruins,...}. The breakfast {Japanese breakfast} was free of charge and it was good. A Japanese breakfast is not a continental or international breakfast, and it was indeed rich, so many thanks to the service personal who did their best to provide a good breakfast! If you like a sweet breakfast, there are no sweets or cakes. Unfortunately the Wifi didn't work well till the 8th floor but I could survive because I had my own datas. I would book this...
