Heiwadai Hotel Otemon — Hotel in Fukuoka

I was lucky to reserve a 3-day parking lot on the night of my arrival at the hotel. There seems to be only 5 lots available and I took up the last lot. The parking fee is 1100 yen per night and collection of the parking fees for three nights was settled immediately on the day I checked in.|Free breakfast is a plus point, but do note that the food is the same on all days during my stay. I'm a bread and butter kinda breakfast person, so no complain for me. The old lady serving is so friendly as she will help you to find seat and teach you how to toast the bread. She always makes my day when I see her at the cafeteria. |Cons : Room is really small and hard to find space to open two large luggage. The hotel doesn't provide extra pillow. The staff said "one bed one pillow" to our dismay. The pillow is too soft for my comfort. No bidet toilet! I can't believe it! I definitely need a bidet...

I haven't stayed in such a small room since my first visit to Japan nearly a decade ago. 2 twin beds and a small refrigerator on the floor take up all of the space, leaving a one-foot gap between beds and about two feet between foot of bed and wall. It was 2 days and nights of shifting our luggage around to be able to move. There were pebbles and particles all over the floor, though the rest of the room was clean. But the common areas--lobby and dining room--had filthy floors and the stairwell walls were covered with grime. The two saving graces were the cost--about $55 American per night in late 2018--and the beautiful, nearby Park, Otori Koen. Still, I will do all I can to avoid staying...

I accidentally booked a smoking room. The smell of smoke was so strong that it even gave me allergies. The mattress collapsed and I woke up with soreness in my back. The room was very small and the bath water could not be adjusted to a constant temperature. It was very hot, even if it was cold water. Turn on the hot water a little, and it will be very hot. It is really not recommended for everyone to stay there. There are no large supermarkets or restaurants nearby. It is a very unsuitable...
