While it may not be in the Hakata or Tenjin area, the location of Hotel Nissei gave us the chance to explore Fukuoka beyond the vicinity of the major train stations. The location of the hotel is perfect, around 5 minute walk from the Akasaka station, and very near the Fukuoka Castle ruins. If you have luggage, take Exit 6 of the Akasaka station which is actually the elevator exit.||||The hotel is typical of business hotels in Japan, small rooms but quite comfy. We were given a room at the top floor, and we had a little bit of a view of the bridge at the bay. If you are sensitive to noise, better to ask for a room at the back of the building as the noise from the traffic was very evident on the 9th floor.||||Check in and check out were very efficient, no deposit required. They only asked for passports of the guests.||||There was a Lawson around 15 steps from the hotel, and a 7-11 across the street from the Lawson. Interesting sights when going to Lawson or 7-11 are very narrow houses surrounding the hotel. There was one where the width of the entire building was just th e width of a car, and a little bit extra space.||||We were given a smoking room but I didn't smell a whiff of tobacco except when I first checked in. It was all gone after I opened the window, and went out for a couple of hours.||||Price is reasonable, wifi was a bit iffy at first. We had to ask the lady at the desk to go up and fix it. She was not able to do anything to fix it but after 2 hours, our gadgets were able to connect.||||Will not say no...

ย ย ย Read moreThe room is mediocre in condition, and it's old, not so clean, the bed is so small, mentioned it's a queen bed, but looks like a small double bed which hardly sleeps 2 adults on it. The mattress is too soft and will easily get neck and back pain after sleeping on it. Moreover, the bathroom of our triple bedroom is so small, and honestly it's the smallest bathroom that I have seen after my 20th trips to Japan. We had a very hard time using this bathroom during our stay, which we need to squeeze thru the super tiny bathroom door to get in, and squeezing ourselves to sit down on the toilet bowl... And can't even move abit while standing on the bathtub for showers. The room is super small as well, there's no more room for us to move around inside our room after we have put our luggages on the floor and open it.Location wise, this hotel is not so convenient, as it's located far from the entrance of the metro station Akasaka. Also, there's no breakfasts provided even we want to pay them to get one. We won't stay again in this hotel during our future...
