The hotel is located within walking distance of the railway station; however, I’d strongly suggest you get clear directions or use google maps as it is tucked away on the side streets. It is a quiet location with only a few nearby non-descript restaurants and one convenience store. The hotel itself is a bit tired and worn out but still in reasonable condition, this includes the lobby, lifts, corridors, hotel rooms and dining room.||In order to maximise the amount of space in our room we booked a Deluxe Twin (Double) and glad that we did. The décor in the room was pretty bland and the window looked out onto the neighbouring building – so it was always dark as there was not much natural light. The bathroom was a step up from the bedroom floor level and in comparison, to the room itself was relatively small and compact. It also had a raised bathtub so I can understand for those people with mobility issues it would be difficult to navigate.||The beds were very comfortable, and I was able to fit my 6ft frame in without overhanging the end. The free Wi-Fi was strong and reliable. It would have been nice of they provided some complimentary water. They do have a drink vending machine and a coin laundry on the 2nd floor (at least I think it was the 2nd floor). The washing and drying machines like the hotel were fairly worn out but did the job, though there wasn’t much ventilation in the laundry, and it smelt like it was on the smoking floor.||Breakfast was served on the ground floor and like the rest of the hotel could have down with an upgrade. The décor in the dining area was like a private library, complete with chandeliers – thought the tables and chairs could do with replacing. The food was relatively basic with a mix of Japanese and Western dishes but there was no change to the variety in the dishes served over the duration of our stay. At the end of the meal, you returned your dirty dishes to the servery however there was nobody wiping down the tables between customers.||The staff at the front desk were helpful, even if they did initially charge me an extra tax, which given I had paid for the room upfront was annoying. Although once they recognised their mistake, they called me up and arranged a refund (which took another 20mins). They do provide guests with free ice-cream at the lobby between 3:00 and 7:00pm but no donuts (as advertised on their website), where there is also a coffee machine and water dispenser (if you are happy to use the small paper cups).||If I was coming back to Hakata I would definitely look at alternative options, as it was convenient for an overnight stay but if you are staying longer, like we were, I’m sure there must be...
Read moreMy stay wasn't a good one. |Upon I checked in to the Reception, the male reception staff use simple English to tell me time is not ready for check in. From his facial expression to language expression, I don't feel welcoming at all like other Japanese hospitality. Understand their English may not be good enough or fluent, however they are totally unlike other typical Japanese courteous culture. These basic job related English can be trained actually. I wonder why they cannot do that. Obviously I was carrying a luggage and I would like to store my luggage and go out for a walk, the male receptionist did not show any interest to offer me this service but I need to ask for it. He just pointed to the luggage store area. How dare they charged me for over USD$120 per night! What a service!||During my stay, I was expecting few parcels to send to me. When the time I went back to hotel at night, I asked the female receptionist if any parcels arrived for my Room No., I showed her the room key including the key envelope, the lady then get my room key and checked ..... Then told me I should check out on 25 Feb !! Come on! If she don't understand, don't pretend she understand and do something non-sense! I then asked her again if any parcel or delivery box for me, then she showed unwelcome and not happy face to me again and check at her back area. Finally I got my stuff. My experience once again told me I will not use this hotel in future.||In the room, there was no air-conditioning but only warm / hot air come out which I was sweating all night, cannot breathe! We opened the window but the noises from car or traffic made us cannot sleep well at all in our stay..... Room size of coz is small as other business hotel. I believe Toyoko inn can have better service then this one.||No wonder why the nearby hotels were all full but this hotel was still have rooms to sell..... Indicate its popularity from guests.... Not top of the list but at the bottom one! ||I would rather pay some more in future to look for a better service hotel. Just...
Read moreLocation: right behind Hakata station, hence very convenient to get around and find your way back - just hop onto any vehicle heading to the station, and it it was not for the location, I wouldn't give it any star Facility: worst condition ever compared to any business hotel I stayed in Japan, when I first enter the lobby I just didn't feel comfortable at all and I was not expecting any luxury for that price, but the I didn't see any value for that price. Probably the interior designer poorly chose the color making everything yellowish, thus a touch of uncleanness. It's also bad design when the first thing you see when opening the window is the neighbor you could shake hand with - yes, it was that closely build. And don't tell me the land is scarce and expensive, just rearrange the rooms on each floor and I bet all the rooms could have a window not facing the neighbors' that close. To continue with the carpet, not sure when it was thoroughly vacuumed, in the laundry room was a big bag of rubbish, not really what you want your guests to see Conclusion: just book a bit in advance and you can get a better deal for the same price. I saw a quite promising one just opposite the street called Leonpalace, admittedly I just saw it from passing by but it gave me a more...
