Fairly new hotel in Furano. It has good sized rooms, pretty quiet and good beds. Good shower, coffee all day, very clean . Breakfast was satisfactory but there is NO bread, you can bake a bun, but with one small toaster you can wait awhile. The food is not hot. Good COVID safety measures are in place. ||There is no hanging hooks anywhere in room you can’t hang up a coat ( such a simple thing to fix. ) Bedside table is very tiny. English is not well spoken and staff mainly use a translation app. For a couple of days we had a competent English speaker. English is not necessary but was advertised as English speaking staff. Restaurant, well it doesn’t really exist, open only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You have to book in the day before, we tried to book in 8.00 AM FOR THAT EVENING, they had to ring chef and ask if that was ok? So if you arrive on a Friday you can’t get a meal till Saturday night. No wonder there was only 4 people in restaurant, however the meal was very good. We arrived at restaurant early intending to have a drink before the meal, but were advised to come back at correct time. There is only one vending machine which only sells drinks. There is no where to order a snack, soup etc. Laundry was good. The bus from the airport does not stop at the hotel. The footpaths had not been cleared and it was very slippery, icy and dangerous, on top of that the entrance to hotel had not been cleared.- they have some very fancy clearing equipment in the lobby. The staff were polite but not helpful couldn’t offer any suggestion for a meal that was close by, I think that overall you could find a better place to stay, with a shuttle service, bus drop off and cafe restaurant that...
Read moreThe room was rather spacious compared to typical Japanese hotels. The size of the toilet was acceptable, typical of Japanese hotels'. Surprisingly, the toilet came with very comprehensive instructions to operate the bidet, which I had not encountered before in my trips to Japan and I greatly appreciated that. The entire place was very clean, and we could take the tote bags in the room home. The room came with humidifier to manage the dry air at Furano; just had to refill the water tank. While the room was situated across residences, we had been advised to pull down the blinds for privacy. There was no phone in room to contact the concierge but not necessary anyway during our stay since the place was relatively small. The lounge was great where guests could make their own complimentary coffee (from beans) and tea (from leaves); we could choose the flavour of the tea based on options of the leaves given (did not try the coffee during my stay). There were no English instructions to operate the separate washing machines and dryers (2 washing machines and 2 dryers available at level 4) but could easily Google translate the Japanese instructions on the devices. Unfortunately the dryer was not strong enough to dry my clothes for 30 min (100 yen) so I had to do an additional round...
Read moreOur stay at the Hotel Munin Furano was perfect. It's located in a quiet suburban part of the town and there is plenty of parking outside. The staff were incredibly and welcoming upon arrival.||||The hotel itself is brand new. The design is simple and elegant and has everything you need. The dining area is large and spacious and even has an irori type hearth. The breakfasts (western + Japanese style) there are beautifully prepared by the chef and wait staff-portions are huge. ||||The rooms were clean, quiet, and enormous for Japan. Bed are large and there are even two pillows of different hardness on the bed. Lovely touch. There are premium amenities in the bathroom and the water pressure in the shower is unmatched. A nice touch are the magnetic door signs (do not disturb etc.) that you can stick to the exterior of the door and won't fall off the door handle like the traditional ones. I've stayed in worse 5 star hotels than this 3 star hotel (I personally think it rates a 4).||||If you're looking for a gym, a luxurious onsen, this isn't the place, but you'll have the most restful and rejuvenating time here. Did I mention that the food is delicious? ||||The only hotel I'll consider...
