I absolutely loved my relaxing stay here at Fuji-Hakone. I wasn’t expecting this level of hospitality; both Tetsuya and Lisa and the family went above and beyond to give me great restaurant recommendations to suit the time of day and even checked to see if they could help me make a reservation. The location is great, only a 2 minute walk to the bus stop which easily connects you to other towns and attractions in Hakone. There are also great restaurants and a beautiful grass field within walking distance. The place is immaculately clean, and they offer to change your towels to fresh towels daily. I was supplied with a yukata: traditional japanese loungewear which came in handy for going to the shower and onsen. The private onsen both outdoors and indoors are very easy to book upon arrival, but I would recommend booking in morning of or night before you go out, as during the time i stayed, there was 1 night where the outdoor onsen from fully booked. But the family was so kind and to somehow be able to slot me in, and were communicative on Booking messaging while i was out during the day. The onsen is AMAZING, and it is cleaned daily. The traditional japanese room was so clean, and the beds were soooo comfy. I loved being able to open the screen and see the river every day out my window. There’s also a heater and air conditioning which you can adjust to your liking. The family went above and beyond, even helping me ship my luggage to Hakone-Yumoto station on my last day so I can enjoy sightseeing, and even disposing of my old suitcase when it broke and I had to buy a new one. The private onsen is FANTASTIC and i enjoyed it every night and even some mornings before going out. The only thing that I would suggest improving on is the addition of a Japanese style breakfast, that would be amazing. Currently, there only exists an option for a Western style breakfast. I did not try it, but it looks like great value for 1100 yen. Another thing I felt is that the Onsen are just slightly too hot (I visited in late November), however you can easily overcome this by sitting out for a few minutes before dipping back in. I imagine in the dead of winter, it would be the perfect temperature! Overall, i would highly, highly recommend staying here. It was an amazing experience and having a private onsen was such a great perk! Really appreciate the family’s hospitality and thank you!

Our stay at fuji-Hakone guest house was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I visited for our honeymoon and were grateful to be welcomed into the home of this beautiful family, and ライト! They were so very thoughtful about every little detail; from a room with an amazing view to little gifts to make our trip extra special (the host’s mother gave us a newspaper from the day so that we could have it to remember what happened in Japan while we were on our honeymoon. Soo so thoughtful) Our host was incredible, and his sister and mother were precious gems! All so very kind and genuine. They made an effort to get to know us and make their home ours. The host and his sister know English quite well, so conversing was easy and enjoyable! And their puppy is so sweet, too! The onsen was so lovely. We found ourselves starting and ending our days in there. Incredibly relaxing, romantic and a great help to sore muscles after lots of sightseeing! Though, we didn’t try the outdoor one because it had snowed while we were there and we weren’t brave enough to face the cold haha! There is a bus stop 5 minutes (by walking) from the front door, and they have loads of helpful information that they go over with you; bus routes, best tourist and sightseeing spots, best restaurants, etc. we were able to see so much even when tons of things closed due to the snow storm we had. The amenities were always very clean and easily attainable, though the restrooms are shared which took some getting used to (as I am a late night pee-er lol). There are also some shorter beams that my tall husband bonked his head on a couple times, but that just added to the memories :) The futons (beds) were SO comfortable and warm, considering it snowed while we were here! (which was also magical!). They have gas heaters only that you can only leave on for certain periods of time, and only during the day, so we were surprised at how toasty and cozy we were in those beds! We were in Japan for 2 weeks and stayed here for 2 nights. We agree this was the best place we stayed the entire trip, even though we stayed at a couple 5 star hotels. Everything was just so perfect and wonderful. We were so happy we got to enjoy some beautiful Japanese culture. Thank you for for everything! We cant wait to visit again some day! This is a beautiful guest house and extremely well connected by several bus stops closeby in walking distance to Hakone. We didn’t stay overnight here. Our intent was just to check out the onsen. Most of you would know that it’s hard to find an onsen that allows people with tattoos. This is one of those few foreigner friendly and tattoo friendly places. The onsen experience was out of this world. We booked for an hour thinking it’s too little. But a few mins in the onsen and you realize that an hour is pretty good. There are many onsens in Japan where the water isn’t naturally heated. This one comes directly from the source and is rich in minerals. An hour makes you feel younger by a couple of years. They provided us with a private onsen and towels and showering facility. After the onsen, we spent some time sitting warm green tea and charging the phones. A great experience overall and highly recommended place. Not a very upmarket place - but does the job pretty amazingly well

My wife and I stayed two nights here and had a lovely time. Highly recommended for western travelers, as the owners are very friendly and all speak English. The two baths are private and easy for guests to reserve. Location is very convenient for traveling around Hakone.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We tried to chat with them whenever we saw them, and pet their adorable dog Laito whenever he was around.

The room we stayed in was a traditional Japanese style. Very spacious with a sink and small TV. It was rather cold in the room (single pane windows, middle of Nov) but heat up quicky with the gas heater.

They have two onsen that can be reserved for 30-min at a time. The indoor bath fee is included in the reservation, and the outdoor bath can be reserved for 500 yen. Both baths are private, so guests with tattoos are ok. We didn’t have any trouble with reserving.

At time of booking they said on the website that they do not offer meals, but they do offer breakfast and/or coffee at an additional charge. They have instant noodles for sale at the reception desk as well. Instant coffee and green tea powder is also free to use, and there is a vending machine with water, tea, and beer just outside.

It’s also very conveniently located. Bus lines to Togendai and Odawara pick up right outside the guesthouse, and is also walking distance to several restaurants and a few convenience stores. They offered to call to reserve tables at some restaurants and offered a shuttle service, but we did not use this service during our stay.

Please consider them if you plan on staying...
