Located just 5 minutes from Gora station (near Hyatt Regency), it's a property that pretty much requires the traveler to use a rental car. Free parking is available. Note that there is parking right outside the property's front door and then around the corner just underneath (B1, covered). At check-in, one must enter through the front door as there is no access via B1 without a card key.||For less experienced drivers, it's best to arrive before sunset. We arrived in darkness on a misty night when visibility was very poor. I have good experience driving in poor visibility so it didn't bother me but others might feel a bit concerned going around the the many sharp corners in the dark.||Front desk was Japanese only but they had an electronic translator tool to solve any issues. Service was good as the staff came to our room to find the laundry detergent. The property did not have a restaurant so there is nothing else to review about its service.||The room itself was huge--77m2 (830ft2) which is its major draw. There was a large kitchen, a living area with a sofa, a Japanese style room where one can put futons on the floor to sleep, and a room with two proper beds. The kitchen had all the utensils and electronics necessary, including a dishwasher. Consistent with other Japanese vacation stays though, there were no condiments so if cooking needs to be done, one must buy everything (salt, pepper, oil, etc). There were also two toilets.||The major negative of the place was bedding conditions. The beds were true single beds that were just average in comfort. In the Japanese style room, I was able to set up one set of Japanese futon bedding. I wanted to set up another one but there was only one mattress cover. The futons were the expensive Tempur ones but there were several unappetizing stains on each. I didn't want to use it without a mattress cover. The bath area was also a bit old. The bracket holding the shower head was stuck and the height could not be adjusted.||There was a washer and dryer in room which was convenient. The washing machine was a bit dirty though. Though it's not within the drum itself, when the cover was open, I could see some build up between the lid and the machine's body. The dryer worked well though.||We stayed two nights and on night two, the entire property (including the onsen wash area) was without hot water for some time. It was eventually restored but one would never expect that to happen normally. There was a small indoor onsen and a pretty good outdoor onsen. Again, some work needs to be done in the wash area though. The railing of the indoor onsen was starting to rust.||Overall--the property offers good value since it gives you lots of space. Some refurbishment is...
Read moreThis hotel has extremely spacious rooms which is a welcome change from your typical Tokyo hotel. Even though the website may not make it clear, every suite has a view of the mountains and seems to come with multiple rooms. There was a washer and dryer in unit as well which is so convenient. The hotel room is well stocked with kitchen utensils and cooking tools. The public outdoor onsen is small but great for a quick dip.
A warning that it is a bit of a hike from the nearby Gora station, you can take the cable car but those end around 5/6pm. If you are coming by foot, don’t bring a huge luggage otherwise you will be pulling it at a 45 degree angle for most of the walk from Gora station. There is a konbini in the area as well about 20 minutes walk away. Overall amazing stay and will definitely be...
Read moreWe had a 2 bedroom apartment on an RCI exchange programme. It is located up the hill at Gora. You need to buy groceries to cook and breakfast. The room is well appointed with all the cooking utensils needed. Hardly any restaurant nearby within walking distance.||||You need a car to stay here. Reception staff could hardly speak a word of English. There is no housekeeping. You need to bring down your own rubbish to lobby level to dispose. ||||Room size is acceptable with one room having single beds and another room on tatami. Would prefer to Sundance resort compare to Big Week resort which has poorer facilities and service.||||||This location is only 15 minutes drive to Owakudani. Suitable to move...
