Sonrisa — Restaurant in Kanazawa

Very disappointing experience! I bought a piece of their charcuterie thinking the price was that written in the window as it was a 200g piece for a certain amount. They were nice and cut it for me which I appreciated (and paid extra for). I paid and left. Then, afterwards, it appalled me when the waiter came running after me on the street to say he had made a mistake and the price was almost double! This was because the piece they had actually given me was apparently bigger than the one I had pointed out in the window. When you make a mistake like that and don’t tell or charge the client the right price you should own the mistake. You certainly don’t run half way down the street after someone like that. Also, showing the price like that was very deceiving....

So, have been in Kanazawa for the past week and have enjoyed all of its fresh seafood cooked in the Japanese way. Tonight we thought we'd enjoy it from a Spanish perspective and we're not disappointed. The seafood dishes at Sonrisa were so good and surprising. It was a delight to see the same seafood served with a Spanish flair. This establishment has conquered the triumvirate - spectacular food, service, and ambiance. The wine selection was fantastic too. We were so enamored with the selection of tapas that we didn't leave room for paella. Next time in Kanazawa we won't make that mistake again. We will make room for the paella. Another couple in the restaurant was enjoying the Iberico jamon. If we were here longer we'd choose to enjoy another...

Over all it was not a very good experience. The staff is welcoming and nice but the quality of food was far from good. Everything has some acidic taste. And in the lunch special hamburger there were large pieces of soft bone that cannot be eaten. The choice of baguette is hilarious in size. Like a mine size bread for a child. In general the food here is very far from Spanish food. It's more like Spanish inspired Japanese food. I would highly recommend the chef to take a small holiday, go to Spain to learn about...
