What an amazing stay! It exceeded all expectations. The place is super nice with design interior, rooms are warm, spacious and comfortable. The whole place is modern, yet has a very traditional authentic feel and feels serene. The staff is very attentive, caring and fulfills your every need - they make you feel welcome, and explain everything to you very well even if you are a foreigner, there was no problem communicating in english. You are guaranteed 2 private stays in the private onsen spa of your chice - one in the evening and one in the morning, the time slots are more than enough to cover guest capacity and you have choice. The public onsen is pretty awesome too, although i felt so relaxed after private onsen for so long i went there just because of curiosity lol.The dinner and breakfast are HUGE and are SUPER tasty. Excellent products and execution, it was my first time tasting a5 wagyu. I recommend you do not eat lunch before coming to the ryokan for dinner, maybe just breakfast or something small because you will want to eat everything in this amazing meal set. I still feel kind of full 1 day after checking out.The hotel has nice common areas with free beverages, board games, ping pong ans some slot machines for entertainment. You can reserve karaoke room or get massaged in the automatic massage chairs. After we chcecked in at 3pm we did not need to go anywhere away from the hotel and just enjoyed our time there. If you want to book very specific timeslots for the private spa come in at that 3pm, because people queue up 30 min before in the lobby. Although i felt this was not really necessarry because like i said, the capacity is calculated well and you are guaranteed 2 entramces with available time slots. The first time slot starts at 4pm and is in 1hr intervals - with 5 available onsens up until the night. Morning onsen had plenty of free slots. They also offer free shuttle bus and it was always quick, we even called from public telephone in Arima when before checkin and had no problems arranging pickup in english. What i wish is if they were a little bit more flexible with breakfast times, because you also reserve a time slot but it's not like it's a course meal but traditional breakfast + buffet and you have to decide at the check in, which is kind of soon to think about when you want to have morning meal, but it's not too big problem. I guess it is a way to prevent everyone rushing in 5 min before closing time like some people do. The breakfast has plenty of variety and you even get a preheated own grill!Overall, we couldn't pick a better place for our visit in Arima, we are so relaxed and it was oje of the best places we have...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here overnight as we got a good deal using a Hyogo discount. We paid 15,000 incl breakfast - 7500 each. The hotel as other people have pointed out is by no means a new property, but it has been renovated and overall in good shape. Cleaning standard seems satisfactory. Probably the stand out feature in this hotel are the onsens - which there are multiple. All guests can have private use and this is reserved at the time of check-in. Reservation of two, 1 hr slots can be made. The outside onsens tucked up in the tree area are well worth reserving. I would imagine for those with tatoos, this hotel might be a good option.
We chose not to have dinner and dined out in the town at a local Korean restaurant - which was very good.
Breakfast itself was fairly standard - nothing to get excited about. When I compare other similar small hotels, I would say this hotel could be a little more imaginative and creative regarding the breakfast menu.
We chose the more cost effective room - which suited our needs. A decent sized room with comfortable beds but uncomfortable sofa. Two pillows should be provided as one is simply providing the bare bones. This room category also didn't feature a shower room (only a toilet and wash basin) which is perfectly acceptable, although this was not communicated through the Rakuten website or the hotel website (as far as I can see).
Staff overall were attentive and did their job to the best of their ability. The shuttle into the town area is complimentary and certainly appreciated.
I would say this hotel is recommended for those looking for a less pricey/indulgent option in Arima, where you can enjoy a private onsen (without...
Read moreMy wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There are 2 outdoor and 5 indoor golden onsen to choose from. You definitely need to check in at 3:00 sharp to choose the best time slots for onsen and breakfast. We made the mistake of checking in late and ended up with only 10 pm and 8 am time slots available for onsen (and the only breakfast time slot left was 7:30 am). Regardless, the onsen and food were exceptional! Dinner was like a fine French cuisine, where you get 12 courses of food, each with unique tastes and textures, ordered in a way that your taste buds keep getting stimulated in different ways. Breakfast includes a mini buffet where you can choose from several delicacy on top of the default dishes that they provide. Too bad we were in a rush to get to the onsen, so we couldn't enjoy it in full. The indoor onsen we tried had 2 depths: 1 for soaking your whole body in and another for lying down and relaxing. There's also a rest area for taking breaks if you need to. The outdoor onsen we tried was the boat one. Enjoying onsen while being surrounded by the forest gives a surreal feeling. The Golden Onsen has tiny minerals that you can see! Our room also has an outdoor bath that has hot water running constantly to keep it hot. The water is recycled and filtered to keep it clean while not wasting water. We were so busy trying out all these things we didn't even have time to enjoy other amenities such as the karaoke room and table tennis that everyone else talked about. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who...
