I had come across a number of Dormy Inns over the year but had never stayed at one until now. I am glad I did. The hotel is about a 12 minute walk from the station, maybe a bit more. I took a taxi. It came to 900 yen because of traffic and the number of signals. Still, quite worth it after a journey. The staff are friendly and efficient, and check in was easy. I do not know the level of English but I am sure they will do their best. The room was small but quite sufficient. There are no drawers for clothes, just 8 hangers or so. There is also no safe but valuables can be left at the front.|There is also a small refrigerator.|Amenities are provided, as in most Japanese hotels. The rooms have showers. The tenth floor houses excellent baths and saunas. The ladies' baths require a pin code for security. This is provided daily at the front desk. There are vending machines at very reasonable prices and a coin laundry. A pleasant surprise is the free ramen provided in the evening. Breakfast is more than adequate and, if not included with the room, is either 1,000 yen or 1,200.|There is a free shuttle to the station which runs 3 times an hour. Drop off only. The hotel is in the restaurant/shopping area but don't expect to find many good shops closeby. There are good restaurants though. I am glad I chose to stay here and will now try another Dormy Inn in a couple of...
Read moreAll hotels in the centre of the city of Kofu are relatively cheap and simple. No five star luxury in this town! Having mediocre experiences with the Washington hotel (in Tokyo Akihabara), I opted for the "Dormy Inn" instead. I saw Dormy Inn in Tokyo often but never dared to book it because it's just too cheap. What can a hotel offer for so little money?||||The answer is: quite a lot! It started with good parking and friendly staff at checkin (although hardly any English is spoken). They're quick and polite and show the many free services the hotel offers: snacks, microwaves, onsen (hot bath), ice machine, PCs and more. The room was much, much better than I ever dared to expect for this price. They're fair sized and offer more luxury than one can reasonably expect at this price.||||The only minor problem I experienced was cigarette smell from the hallway (near smoke free rooms #417) and noise from the adjacent rooms. Other than that it was a fine stay, I had a good rest and a nice time in Kofu.||||The next day Dormy Inn offered a buffet breakfast that far surpasses that of other budget hotels like Remm or Washington. After staying at Dormy Inn just one question remains: how does this hotel make any...
Read moreThis hotel features a hot spring, a functional room, and breakfast. They are all better than I expected. || The hot spring is on the 10th floor. Unfortunately I took it at night. I would have been more comfortable if I had taken it during the daytime. This bath is big enough and there is an outside one. There are two bath spaces that are available for both men and women. We have to take our own towel which is provided in the room. Lockers are available in the dressing room.|| The room is spacious, but not too big. It is very functional. Nothing else needs to be added. However, the desk is relatively small, so it isn't easy to do much work. This room is clean and has a shower, toilet and a unit bathtub including a shower.|| I didn't have enough time to have breakfast there. It starts at 6.15am, which I think is convenient for business people. Actually, many people ate there from early in the morning. I will enjoy it next time.|| I took a hotel bus which left for Kofu station at 6.40 am and I'm now going back to Tokyo using the express train. I will reach Shinjyuku station around 9.00am. I had a comfortable...
