Location: hide away from Kusatsu town center among green trees. Request the Bus station staff to call the property, a few minutes a 7-seater passenger van picked us up and sent us whenever we wanted to go to town. ||Service: very sincere and personal service.|| Dinner & Breakfast were served in private dining room by the same staff. The owner Miyasaki Samma came to welcome us before dinner. Very attentive, I was joking not having icecream for dinner, the staff got me two icrecream from 7-11 herself. I was speechless and impressed.||||Facilities: there are two detached rooms. and 4 rooms on second floor 4 rooms on first floor and we stayed at the second floor room with view of trees. Walk down to the main Onsen bath, private reserved bath and dining room. ||||Onsen - outdoor onsen is still with glass pane on two sides overlooking the woods. unlike some other ryokans, the Water temp is pretty warm-hot that I enjoyed and the water in Kusatsu is full of Sulphur. One indoor onsen bath not too big. the shower and change area is a bit small. Yet it is not a huge property so not too busy at the onsen. We also entitled to one-hour in the private reserved onsen that was really good.||||Room: 12-14 tatami. very clean and spacious that could easily sleep 4. Just the design of the room is a bit weird. the door of the bathroom, the sleeping area, the change area , three doors facing the main door of the room. and not very efficient.||||Dining: the Kaiseki meal came with a bottle of sparking wine. Each course is delicately prepared. The Breakfast is also very sumptuous. ||||Overall we enjoyed our stay very much, we recommend Tsutsujitei since Kusatsu onsen is one of the three top...
Read moreWe stayed at Tsutsujitei for two nights in January, and the experience was marvelous. Among the many onsen ryokans we had stayed at, we ranked Tsutsujitei among the best.
The service at the ryokan was exceptional—attentive and detail-oriented without being intrusive. The female staff member who took care of us was impeccable. She spoke excellent English, was warm and friendly, and made us feel truly at home. During our kaiseki breakfast and dinner, she explained each dish in great detail. She also recommended places to visit in Kusatsu and shared insights about the different seasons there.
Our room was spacious and comfortable. Despite the snow and cold weather outside, it remained warm and cozy. The beds were very comfortable, and the kotatsu was fantastic. The drinks in the refrigerator were complimentary, which was a nice touch.
The onsen experience was exceptional, with free-flowing hot spring water of excellent quality. The temperature was just right, making it especially enjoyable with the snow falling outside.
Both the kaiseki breakfast and dinner were delicious and beautifully presented, using fresh ingredients. The pace of the meal was well-timed, allowing us to fully appreciate each dish.
The ryokan’s location, slightly away from Yubatake, created a quiet, peaceful, and tranquil atmosphere. They provided shuttle service to and from the bus terminal and town center until 10 p.m., which allowed us to enjoy the magical Yubatake night illumination after dinner.
Overall, our stay was wonderful. If we visit Kusatsu again, we would definitely choose...
Read moreAll the things including the service, the accommodation and hot spring here are so perfect!||When we first arrive Kusatsu, we tried to grab a taxi but we failed in getting any here. Then we tried to call the hotel for shuttle car, they came soon after 5-10 mins and pick us to the hotel.||Although we arrived earlier than the ordinary check-in time, we were still able to get into the room. They will clean your luggage including the wheels thoroughly before getting your luggage into your room!||For the shuttle car service, the best thing is that you can tell them the attraction you want to go and then they will directly drive you there! And of course they will pick you up anytime anywhere! What you need to do is to make a phone call!||We have booked a room with private bath, the room is very big and has a living room, dining room/ bedroom, shower room, toilet, and of course outdoor hot spring. Everything here is built in a traditional way but you will not feel it’s old. The room is build with many windows that you can see the beautiful surroundings easily. Apart from the in-room hot spring, there is a public hot spring and a private hot spring. The water sources of in-room and public one are the same, while the one for private bath is different. We tried both and found that the in-room one is much hotter than the one in private bath (personally I prefer the temperature of private bath).||All the meals including dinner and breakfast are provided and served in your room. Even the check out is also done inside your room! This is absolutely a memorable...
