We booked a room for 3 adults and 1 child, expecting two twin beds as described. But the room was extremely small, and the beds were so narrow that it was uncomfortable and unrealistic for four people. It felt misleading to advertise it as suitable for a group. We approached the front desk to discuss the situation, and the initial staff member simply said we could check out anytime but no refund would be offered. There was no empathy or willingness to help. After insisting, we were eventually given one extra comforter. When we asked for more bedding so someone could sleep on the floor, we were told no. After further discussion, another employee agreed to give additional items. However, the comforter they brought was used — it had visible stains, hair, and makeup. It was unhygienic and unacceptable. I returned it and left a note. The staff later apologized and admitted it was taken from another room by mistake, but by then, we had lost confidence in the service. This was not only unacceptable in terms of cleanliness and hygiene, but also showed a complete lack of care in how guest needs were being handled. Used bedding should never be handed to any guest, under any circumstance. The whole experience was frustrating. We didn’t feel respected or valued as guests. The room itself was uncomfortable, but what made it worse was how the situation was handled. This place might work for solo travelers, but for families or groups, I cannot recommend...
Read moreThe hotel was always clean and spotless, the room was a good size for 2 people, and the bed was comfy. We also enjoyed the lounge on the first floor, where we would have coffee every morning. Staff was helpful and attentive. There are a few launderette nearby and plenty of convenience stores.
The bathroom was provided with shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner.
It was a bit far from the city centre (30/40mins walk to Gion or Nishiki Market) but on the other hand was quite close to Kyoto Station and there are plenty of buses nearby that can take you anywhere.
It was also a really good value for money!
We were sad to leave as we enjoyed our stay a lot and now doubt, if in Kyoto again in the future, we will stay here...

To train station or bus stop you need to walk ~ 10 mins, laundry is out of the building and on the other side of the road. Anyway, everything else was so great, we're happy...
