Kyoto Station Skyway is proof that sometimes the best things in life really are free â and I say that as someone who thinks âfreeâ usually means youâre the product. But here, it just means youâre not getting gouged „800 to stare at the same damn cityscape from 100 metres away.
Skip Kyoto Tower. Itâs a rusty-looking toothpick charging tourists for views they could get by riding the Skywayâs long, dramatic escalators up to floor 10. The Skyway feels like a secret bridge in the sky. You walk along a suspended glass corridor, catch killer views of the cityâs urban grid backed by gentle green hills, and it costs exactly zero yen. Thatâs right â your wallet stays zipped up, leaving you free to blow those savings on an extra round of draft beer later.
The architecture itself is worth the climb. The escalators are so long they feel like an escalator companyâs portfolio piece. Theyâre basically saying: âThis is us flexing.â And I respect that.
If you like your views panoramic, your architecture futuristic, and your experiences free, skip the overpriced tower and head to Kyoto Station Skyway. The ROI here...
